Role description
From the employerRepresent the organization in tax disputes before the Income Tax Department, GST authorities, and appellate forums. Prepare and file detailed tax appeals, rectification applications, and writ petitions in accordance with statutory timelines. Conduct thorough legal and factual analysis of tax assessments, notices, and demand orders. Collaborate with internal finance, audit, and compliance teams to gather evidence, documentation, and financial data for litigation. Draft legal arguments, submissions, and memorandums for hearings before tax tribunals, high courts, and the Supreme Court. Monitor and analyze case progress, update stakeholders, and provide strategic recommendations for resolution. Ensure adherence to procedural requirements and deadlines across all litigation stages. Stay updated on changes in tax legislation, judicial precedents, and regulatory guidelines impacting litigation strategy. Support the development of internal policies to minimize future litigation risks.
Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law (LL.B.) or Chartered Accountancy (CA), with specialization in taxation. 2–5 years of proven experience in tax litigation, preferably within the Financial Services sector. In-depth knowledge of the Income Tax Act, 1961, Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, and relevant judicial precedents. Strong drafting and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax assessments and legal documents. Proficiency in preparing and presenting case strategies before tax authorities and tribunals. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with legal and financial stakeholders. High level of attention to detail, time management, and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously. Familiarity with e-filing platforms (e.g., e-Return, e-Portal, GSTN) and case management systems.
