Key job responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Amazon’s various business models and

end-to-end systems to ensure effective communication and requirements with business partners, stakeholders, and senior tax leadership.

  • Lead the development and implementation of the overall indirect tax planning

strategy for multiple global businesses.

  • Stay informed on the latest changes in tax laws and evaluate their impact on

relevant businesses.

  • Collaborate closely with finance, legal, and accounting teams to align tax

planning with the company's broader business objectives.

  • Prepare detailed tax planning recommendations and proposals, presenting them

to senior leadership for approval.

  • Demonstrate a proven ability to identify and manage tax risks on projects.
  • Coordinate the implementation of approved tax planning strategies, ensuring

proper documentation and execution.

A day in the life In this strategic tax advisory role, your day will be filled with opportunities to support business and product launches through comprehensive tax planning and consultation. You will work closely with business teams to shape product strategy and development, ensuring that indirect tax guidance is integrated from the outset. Your responsibilities will include understanding VAT/GST compliance, controllership, and audit requirements, drafting tax requirements documentation for new products and services, and leading global tax coordination efforts with regional subject-matter experts. You will conduct pre-launch testing and validation from a tax perspective, provide regular updates to tax leadership, and build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams to drive successful product launches across multiple geographies.

Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality tax technical advice on complex or ambiguous areas, helping our business partners anticipate future challenges and understand the long-term implications of their decisions. Most importantly, we build lasting relationships with our partners, gaining a deep understanding of their businesses, systems, and flows. This role offers countless opportunities for you to think creatively, solve intricate problems, and make a significant impact. Basic Qualifications: - 12+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Experience in taxation in a corporate environment, public accounting firm or

major law firm

  • Knowledge of international indirect tax planning and strong understanding of

or practical experience with tax laws in other countries Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partner well with people at all levels within an organization, including coaching of junior staff

  • Experience with accounting concepts and tax regulations, laws and standards
  • Experience relating complex tax risks to non-tax business stakeholders
  • CPA, or LL.M. (Taxation)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
