Description

A successful Accounting and Tax Specialist at Dunn Lumber is responsible for

maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the day-to-day accounting

functions that keep the business running smoothly. This position plays an important role

in the monthly close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and operational

accounting.

**This location is currently hiring for the following schedule(s):**

**Monday - Friday (7:00am - 3:45pm)**

**OR**

**Monday - Friday (8:00am - 4:45pm)**

Please Note: Upon hire, all employees complete two-week training period, at our Bellevue or Shoreline locations. For a new hire's first two weeks they work a training schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm. This training is mandatory, and employees receive daily stipends to offset travel expenses.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:

  • Perform account reconciliations and prepare journal entries to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts, customer deposits, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, construction in progress, and intercompany accounts.
  • Monitor daily cash activity, accounts receivable activity, refund clearing, and customer deposits.
  • Audit sales orders, purchase orders, direct shipments, and freight transactions for accuracy.
  • Monitor designated general ledger accounts and research unusual or incorrect activity.
  • Support inventory accounting processes and review inventory adjustments submitted by branch locations.
  • Process ACH payment runs and review employee expense reports.
  • Manage sales tax accruals, filings, and payments.
  • Maintain depreciation schedules, fixed asset records, insurance schedules, rebate schedules, and other operational accounting records.
  • Prepare financial reporting schedules, variance analyses, and supporting

documentation for monthly financial statements.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Support tax filings, insurance audits, covenant reporting, property tax reporting, unclaimed property filings, and other periodic reporting requirements.
  • Research accounting questions and provide support to internal departments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and efficiencies.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct yourself each day in a manner consistent with Dunn Lumber’s Core Values.

**Previous Experience**

Three or more years of accounting experience is preferred. Experience working with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, month-end close processes, and

ERP/accounting systems is strongly preferred.

**Education, Certificates, or Licenses**

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.

**Technical/Computer Skills**

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate to advanced

Microsoft Excel skills and experience using ERP or accounting software. This position

requires strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple

priorities while meeting recurring deadlines.

**Supervisor Responsibility**

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

**Physical Demands**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands

and fingers, talk, hear, and operate standard office equipment. The employee may

occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include

close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

**Work Environment**

This position primarily operates in a professional office environment. The noise level is

typically quiet to moderate. Regular interaction with employees across multiple

departments is expected.
