ABOUT THE ROLE

  • As a State Tax Investigation Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to
  • build relationships with clients and tax agencies while providing full-spectrum
  • representation for taxpayers with various tax issues. You will work closely with
  • state agencies and the IRS to ensure cases are handled effectively and
  • efficiently.
  • In this role, you will manage and update cases, submit Power of Attorney forms,
  • maintain accurate records, and provide excellent service and support to clients
  • and internal teams.

HOW YOU’LL BE REWARDED

Base Pay: $24.00–$26.00 per hour

Monthly Bonus:  Average bonus potential of $800 - $1,200

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Tax Investigations
  • Conduct tax investigations with state agencies.
  • Conduct IRS tax investigations through the Transcript Delivery System and by

telephone.

  • Update cases based on information received during investigations.
  • Upload tax transcripts to client case files and update case statuses

accordingly.

Power of Attorney Processing

  • Submit Power of Attorney forms online to the IRS and state tax agencies.
  • Maintain accurate records of submitted authorizations.
  • Follow up on submissions as needed to ensure cases continue progressing.

CRM & Case Management

  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes in the CRM system.
  • Track case activity, progress, and required next steps.
  • Complete assigned tasks within required deadlines.
  • Manage a large caseload while prioritizing tasks effectively.

Client & Departmental Collaboration

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients.
  • Communicate with the IRS and state tax agencies regarding client cases.
  • Collaborate with tax professionals, sales representatives, clients, and other

internal departments.

  • Provide excellent service and support to clients and colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE

  • Active CTEC certification.
  • At least two years of experience using CRM and tax-management systems.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Google Workspace and

Microsoft Office.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage a large caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or GED, two years of related experience, or an equivalent

combination of education and experience.
