Overview
For our Düsseldorf office, we are looking for a Tax Director – DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) Location: Düsseldorf (hybrid)Employment Type: Full-time For the DACH region, we are seeking an experienced and strategically minded Tax Director to take ownership of and further develop our tax compliance, reporting, and advisory activities across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
###The role### covers a broad range of direct taxes, VAT/indirect taxes, and internationally oriented tax matters (including transfer pricing), and serves as a key point of contact for the business, finance, external advisors, and tax authorities. Ideally, you bring at least 15 years of relevant professional experience, gained for example in a Big Four firm and/or an international in-house tax function.
Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting: Ensure complete and timely in-house tax compliance in line with tax
###requirements### across the DACH region (including direct taxes, VAT, and other indirect taxes). Manage tax reporting, including effective tax rate (ETR) and cash tax topics, to support sound financial decision-making. Tax Advisory: Act as the first point of contact for tax-related questions from the business and provide advice on operational and strategic matters.
Provide tax support for major transactions such as M&A, reorganizations, and corporate structural changes. Transfer Pricing: Collaborate with the Global Tax Team to design and implement effective transfer pricing policies and ensure robust documentation. Stakeholder Management: Work closely with Finance, Legal, HR, and other functions, as well as external advisors and tax authorities, to ensure compliance and proactively manage tax risks.
Tax Audits & Risk Management: Lead and coordinate tax audits, manage tax risks, and build and maintain a professional working relationship with the tax authorities. Process Optimization: Initiate and implement improvements to increase efficiency and automation in tax processes (compliance/reporting). Global Alignment: Align the DACH tax strategy with global/EMEA initiatives and corporate objectives.
Qualifications
At least 15 years of professional
###experience### in corporate tax (compliance, reporting, and/or tax advisory).
###Experience### with corporate income tax and VAT tax group structures. Practical knowledge of the tax software DATEV.
###Experience### in a Big Four firm and/or an international in-house tax function (or comparable long-standing group tax expertise). Proven
###experience### in a multinational environment, ideally with interfaces to EMEA/global tax structures. Strong understanding of direct taxes, VAT/indirect taxes, transfer pricing, and relevant international tax frameworks. Excellent communication
###skills### and strong stakeholder management capabilities (Finance/Business/Authorities/Advisors). Independent, structured working style and the ability to operate effectively in an international matrix environment. Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken.
