Summary of Position
- The Tax Supervisor - Trusts/Estates - will play a key role in our Trust &
Estate practice, supporting high-net-worth individuals and families. This role will be responsible and focused on day-to-day tax preparation and review for trust and estate engagements, while contributing to interaction for individual and business tax. They will oversee complex tax activities/clients, while managing multiple tax engagements, delivering quality income tax services for our diverse client case.
Essential Functions
- Prepare complex fiduciary income tax returns, gift, estate, and various other
tax returns (corporate, partnership, individual tax planning) with no direct supervision
- Technical review of Trust, Estate, Private Foundation returns, and
individual/business tax returns/planning
- Assist with estate and trust planning strategies
- Conduct appropriate and applicable research regarding tax issues to ensure
accuracy and implementation of specific tax law and provide guidance to clients and/or suggest alternatives
- Manage daily client workflow and multiple client projects
- Complete assignments within timeline and budget
- Become Primary contact for trust/estate, individual, business clients
- Provide guidance/feedback to Associates and Senior Associates and encourage
their development
- Work directly with high-net-worth individuals, family groups, advisors on
Trust and Estate matters - providing tax compliance, tax planning, Estate planning services
- Provide high level personal financial and Estate planning services
- Assist staff with correcting complex errors on tax forms
- Remain familiar with IRS and state tax agencies to address inquiries
- Form "Trusted Advisor" relationship with clients, primary specialty-area
focused
- Communicate with clients regarding status of projects
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Master’s degree in accounting or taxation
or related field
- Minimum 7 year’s accounting and tax experience with a focus and exposure to
trusts and estates
- Experience with trusts, estate returns is required
- Experience with variety of income tax filings; trust, individual,
S-Corp/Partnership a plus
- Understanding of and sensitivity to confidential information
- Ability to meet time constraints and client deadlines
- Ability to work overtime from January - April 15 (may be in excess of 55
hours per week). Occasional overtime work required throughout the year.
- Ability to multi-task and manage a complex workload to meet reporting
deadlines
