POSITION SUMMARY
- Sony Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking an Assistant Director, Tax
- Reporting and Compliance for the Global Tax Office located in Culver City,
CA. This role will focus on the Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) segment.
This position will be on a Hybrid schedule with 3-4 days per week in the Culver
City, CA office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and review corporate, state and partnership tax
returns for the Sony Pictures Segment
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provision calculation in
accordance with IAS 12; computation of book to tax differences; tracking of
deferred taxes inventory; tax account analysis and reconciliations; assist
with effective tax rate reconciliation and other analysis of income tax
amounts including preparation of tax-related journal entries for
Sony Pictures Segment
- Compute and maintain various Federal and state tax attributes schedules
- Understand IFRIC23(FIN48) Positions, update and analyze the impact
of IFRIC23(FIN48) reserves to the Company’s US federal tax attributes
- Prepare tax forecast, budget, and cash flow for Sony Pictures Segment
- Analyze and support on matters related to US international considerations
including foreign-source income, FDII, BEAT, foreign tax credits and
withholding taxes
- Compile sub-consolidated tax return workpapers as well as income tax
packages, elections, and disclosures for Sony Pictures entities
- Work closely with the accounting, finance, and legal teams at Sony Pictures
on tax-related matters
- Monitor U.S. tax developments and related international rules impacting US
filings, including OECD BEPS/Pillar Two to assess impacts on the business
and assist with related reporting requirements
- Assist with consolidated/combined Federal/State filing audits; handling of
all standalone Federal/State audits
- Identify and support process improvement initiatives within the tax
provision and
compliance operations to enhance efficiency through the implementation
of innovative solutions and collaboration with other tax specialty groups
- Proactively manage and maintain provision and compliance deadlines
- Assist in special tax projects as needed
- Honesty, trustworthiness and ethical conduct are material requirements for
the responsibilities outlined above
QUALIFICATIONS
Your qualifications and experience should include
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required. CPA and/or
Masters in Tax preferred
- Minimum of 10-12 years of progressive experience in corporate tax accounting,
compliance, and/or tax provision preparation, preferably in a large
multinational company and/or a public accounting firm
- Comprehensive knowledge and technical competence in book-to-tax accounting,
as well as federal and state income tax concepts applicable to multinational
organizations, is essential
- Knowledge of IFRS a plus
- Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and proven capability to
prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven dynamic environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CorpTax compliance software and
OneSource Tax Provision required
- Experience within the Entertainment industry preferred
- Working knowledge of BPC/SAP preferred
- Must be authorized to work unrestricted within the United States

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $175,000 to $190,000. In
addition to the annual base salary, this role has an annual bonus target
of 17%. This range does not include any other compensation components or other
benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered
depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the
qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant
experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained,
certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which
the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
