Essential Duties

Tax Services

  • Provide high quality individual, trust, estate, gift, foundation, and

business tax compliance services as well as estate planning advisory services

  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies in alignment with client goals

and objectives, including coordinating with advisors to integrate tax

considerations into financial plans and investment strategies

  • Review individual, trust, estate, gift, business entity, and foundation

returns

  • Handle Federal and State tax notices and audits
  • Review and analyze estate planning related legal documents
  • Research Federal, State and International tax laws, prepare tax memorandums

on technical topics, and develop tax savings strategies

  • Be proactive and stay current on new tax legislation and tax reform

Experience in tax compliance specific to the oil & gas sector:

  • Calculating depletion and depreciation, including cost and percentage methods
  • Experience with deductions unique to the oil & gas industry, such as dry hole

costs and IDC

  • Calculating AMT adjustments specific to the oil & gas sector

Business Development

  • Manage all aspects of client accounts with respect to tax, fostering client

relationships, overseeing processes, and answering questions

  • Serve as a subject matter expert, resource, and point of contact for clients’

broader advisory team, including wealth advisors, financial planners, and

other stakeholders

  • Conduct internal business development and marketing, including networking,

public speaking and authoring income tax planning and Trust and Estate

related articles

  • Provide internal training and guidance on tax-related topics
  • Manage other members of the group including monitoring their workload and

training and assisting them

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university, JD, or MS

in Tax required

  • Active CPA, EA or state bar license required (eligible to be listed on POAs

is required)

  • 6+ year’s progressive experience in public accounting required
  • Extensive experience in Tax Advisory and Gift/Estate/Trust planning and

compliance for sophisticated high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth

individuals and families

  • Ability to establish and maintain strong client relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
  • Experience with reviewing individual, fiduciary, gift tax returns required,

partnership and S corporation preferred

  • Preferred experience with CCH Axcess Tax & Bloomberg Income Tax Planner

(Formerly BNA)

  • Experience with research software and memo writing required
  • Must be able and willing to work additional hours as needed to meet client

deliverables

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires the physical capabilities to work in an office

environment, which may include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and

  • This position is required to work onsite 4 days per week.

U.S. Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States. For

U.S. employment opportunities, Corient hires U.S. citizens or permanent

residents. Exceptions to these requirements will be determined based on

shortage of qualified candidates with a particular skill. Corient will

require proof of work authorization.

  • Corient participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with

your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the

U.S. If E-Verify cannot confirm that you are authorized to work, this

  • Must be willing to execute Corient’s Employee Agreement or Confidentiality
