The Income Tax Analyst II/Sr. Analyst will play a critical role in the Company’s income tax compliance process, ensuring that the Company complies with federal, state, and local laws.
This position will assist with the preparation of the federal tax return and will be responsible for preparing complex state and local income/franchise tax returns. In addition, this position will lead tax fixed asset projects and the tax depreciation calculation. This position will be pivotal in process improvement initiatives to enhance the income tax compliance process.
The Analyst II/Sr. Analyst will report to the Income Tax Compliance Manager and will work closely with the Income Tax Provision team and other corporate teams to drive results.

###Responsibilities### Assist with the preparation of the federal tax return and prepare complex state and local income/franchise tax returns Lead the tax depreciation calculation and work closely with external consultants on fixed asset projects, including cost segregation studies Analyze Company leases to determine the proper tax treatment Work closely with external consultants to analyze annual research and development (“R&D”) expenses and activities for tax credit purposes Lead federal and state audits and resolve notices Monitor federal, state, and local tax legislation changes Research and document complex tax issues, as well as present recommendations to management Purpose of
###the role### The purpose of this role is to work closely with other Income Tax Department team members to ensure that the Company meets its income tax compliance obligations in accordance with federal, state and local tax laws. This role will have to build and maintain strong relationships throughout the organization and with external consultants. The successful candidate will possess a process improvement mindset, continually identifying and implementing enhancements to the income tax compliance process, and be able to consistently meet deadlines and achieve objectives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

###Requirements### Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance MS in Accounting or Taxation preferred (MS in Accounting or Taxation is required if Bachelor’s Degree is in a major other than Accounting or Finance) CPA preferred Four or more years of income tax
experience
at a public accounting firm or in a corporate tax department Advanced federal and state income tax technical skills, specifically in the areas of compliance and audits Tax depreciation

The annual salary for this position is: $64,500. 00 - $127,200.
00 May be eligible for bonus and equity. Benefits: Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time. Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible: To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company.
For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay. Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc.
