RSM is seeking an experienced, energetic, and self-motivated state and local tax
specialist to join our dynamic, collaborative and expanding SALT team. RSM’s
collaborative and entrepreneurial culture provides a career-focused individual

The ideal candidate will help execute our strategy to deliver the RSM client
experience, focus on the middle market, empower passionate teams and build
communities of RSM promoters through the following responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the business relationship of complex engagements with a focus
on high-value quality tax advice and seek to expand services.
- May serve as a Performance Advisor, mentor or coach to one or more employees,
which will include providing honest and timely performance feedback
- Advise clients on nexus, unitary and business income, multistate tax
planning, audit defense, and due diligence.
- Manage complex state tax compliance and consulting projects for corporate and
pass-through entities.
- Deliver excellent service to internal and external clients including
effective communication, teamwork, positive attitude and high professional
standards.
- Continue to expand knowledge base in area of expertise, comply with
continuing education requirements.
- Drive growth and profitability to the practice by generating new revenue on
existing client portfolio, cross selling and new clients for the tax
practice.
- Interact directly with clients handling questions, planning, consulting, etc.
- Serving as Tax client service coordinator while developing and executing the
firm’s client service plan.
- Reviewing research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm
policies and professional standards.
- Build relationships across lines of business to ensure excellent client
service through an integrated service approach.
- Manage corporate client needs with respect to tax services and state tax
compliance.
- Remain up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.
Basic Qualifications
- Requires a minimum of bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related
field from an accredited college or university.
- Requires one of the following: CPA, JD, or LLM in Taxation, or Enrolled
Agent.
- Requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience providing income/franchise
tax consulting services in a Public Accounting, Consulting, or Law firm.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, detail oriented and excellent
interpersonal skills.
- Possess thorough knowledge of a variety of state and local sales and use tax
laws, regulations, policies and procedures, as well as tax planning,
restructuring, due diligence, audit defense, reverse audits and state
controversy work.
- Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect
necessary information for tax service requirements.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 25% (note travel requirements are currently limited)

- Outstanding organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize
multiple assignments

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect
their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary
range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents
numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited
to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such,
pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $100,000 - $189,200
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus
based on firm and individual performance.
