Be pivotal in the delivery of high-quality employment tax advice by joining PwC
as Manager in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland. This is an opportunity to join a
specialist team supporting a growing pipeline of client work across employment
tax matters, while contributing to the continued development of our Auckland
team.
You’ll work as part of a team of experienced tax advisors across advisory and
compliance projects, including PAYE and FBT reviews, employee share scheme
reporting and advisory and partnering with clients to manage recurring
employment tax compliance work. PwC’s role as an Inland Revenue accredited
Participating Advisor also creates opportunities to contribute
to distinctive employment tax governance and risk reviews.
You’ll collaborate across PwC’s national Tax & Legal Services network to deliver
integrated solutions for clients, including corporate, private,
legal, international, indirect, digital and transactions tax specialists.
We actively use AI and digital tools to support high quality,
efficient client service, so being comfortable and curious with technology is a
must.
Your day-to-day could include
- Lead or support employment tax advisory and compliance engagements covering
PAYE, FBT and ESS reporting, ranging in complexity, with support from senior
tax advisors
- Provide practical, well-researched and technically robust tax advice on PAYE,
FBT, employee benefits, allowances, employee share
schemes, remuneration arrangements, international workforce tax and employer
compliance matters
- Support employment and payroll tax reviews, voluntary disclosures, Inland
Revenue interactions and other employment-related tax risk management
projects
- Assist with employee share scheme tax advisory, structuring and reporting,
including the tax treatment of equity-based reward arrangements
- Support employment tax and employee share scheme input into
transactions, restructures and other business change projects
- Coach, delegate to and support junior team members across advisory and
compliance work
- Leverage GenAI, digital tools, PwC methodologies and quality frameworks to
improve efficiency, consistency and client outcomes
- Manage and develop strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor
and identifying opportunities to support clients with employment
tax, reward and workforce-related tax issues
- Build your skills for the future and develop in a way that is meaningful for
you while working with clients across multiple industries

this role
- Significant, proven tax experience (over 4 years) in a professional
environment, including handling complex tax advisory projects
- Experience in PAYE, FBT, employee share schemes, remuneration,
or other workforce-related tax matters is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of tax legislation and revenue authority practices,
gained in New Zealand or a comparable jurisdiction with similar tax
principles
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams or complex projects
- Experience in business development and client relationship management
- International experience when paired with New Zealand tax experience would
be advantageous
