JOB DESCRIPTION
- Baker Tilly, one of the fastest growing CPA advisory firms in the nation, has an
- incredible career opportunity for a Credits and Incentives (C&I) Director, Tax
- to join our growing Tax Credits practice.
- Our C&I Tax Credits practice is made up of professionals across the U.S., who
- work with clients to develop an efficient and cost-effective approach for
- identifying, calculating, documenting and transferring eligible federal and
- state credits including federal and state credits related to affordable housing,
- historic rehabilitation, domestic manufacturing and workplace hiring. Our team
- has assisted clients in a variety of industries to identify, document and
- sustain federal and state credits through a comprehensive understanding of their
business operations. Highly preferred to be connected to a Baker Tilly office.

What you’ll do
- Be a trusted advisor to middle market clients by providing strategic tax
credit consulting services that includes
- Work with other industry experts to document eligibility and qualification
of clients for certain federal and state statutory and negotiated credits
and incentives
- Identify purchasers of federal and state tax credits able to be transferred
- Close tax credit transactions along with mitigating risk to tax credit
purchasers
- Research and draft technical memoranda related to tax credit matters
- Support industry experts with tax technical issues
- Develop industry thought leadership including writing internal and external
articles and preparing internal and external presentations
- Develop an understanding of each client’s business and become a functional
expert in the relevant technical area
- Assist with managing client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and
ensure client profitability targets are met
- Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships
internally and externally with colleagues, clients and the community
- Coordinate with C&I leadership to drive opportunities through existing and
prospective clients and be part of further building and training the team
- Invest in your professional development individually and through
participation in firm wide learning and development programs
- Act as a career advisor to seniors, managers and senior managers
- Review work prepared by Managers and Senior Managers professionals and work
with Managing Directors and Partners on client optimization strategies
Qualifications
- 4-year degree required
- CPA, EA or CMI certification required
- Minimum of Twelve (12)+ year(s) of work experience in Tax C&I consulting,
preferably federal and/or state statutory credits, including those related to
the Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS Act, Opportunity Zones and Work
Opportunity Tax Credit or other equivalent required
- 3+ year(s) of management experience, mentoring and counseling team members is
desired
- Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service,
demonstrate commitment to continuous learning in order to stay current
regarding applicable strategies, see the "big picture" as well as the
details, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a
sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of
projects
- Eligibility to work in the U.S., without sponsorship, highly preferred
- Prior success in leading key business development, project delivery and
practice development activities preferred
- Demonstrate success to the firm around practice development, providing
thought leadership and meeting target sales goals by having an established
network and participating in various market facing activities, such as
industry presentations, webcasts, professional networking events, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter and have experience in managing
multiple client engagements
- Creative problem solving and research skills
The pay rate ranges for this position are listed below. Actual compensation is
influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to
applicant’s skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional
certifications, work arrangements and geographic location. Baker Tilly offers a
comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
The national pay rate range is $210,380 to $398,850
