
Tax Manager, AVP (m/f/d)
Role description
From the employerThe Tax Manager will be an integral member of the dynamic Corporate Tax
Department, supporting State Street Corporation’s international corporate tax
team. The successful candidate will report to State Street’s Head of Continental
European Tax and will play a critical role in all corporate tax and tax
accounting matters of State Street’s continental European tax function. The
role’s principal responsibility will be to ensure full compliance with local tax
return and global tax reporting requirements. The role will also serve an
important advisory function in support of tax department and business
initiatives.
Major Responsibilities
- Leading the Corporate Tax compliance processes by supporting preparation by
outside advisors of State Street’s tax returns and reviewing tax returns for
Germany and other continental European jurisdictions
- Researching and analyzing corporate tax issues that arise in connection with
tax planning initiatives and business ventures
- Providing tax accounting guidance for tax planning initiatives and business
transactions
- Providing execution support for tax planning initiatives, including by
preparing step plans, monitoring project status and resolving issues
- Supporting tax audits by building relationships with tax authorities and
responding to their inquiries
- Leading tax accounting, forecasting and reporting for current and deferred
taxes
- Leading the development & maintenance of the Tax Control Framework,
especially with respect to tax compliance guidelines & procedures
- Leading functional analysis and documentation in the context of VAT and
transfer pricing matters
Education, Experience and Skills
- Successfully completed degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance and/or Business
Administration; a German Tax Advisor certification (Steuerberater) is
beneficial
- Several years of Corporate Tax and/or Tax Accounting experience with a public
accounting firm or a large international company
- Experience in leading/supporting Corporate Tax projects in an international
environment
- Expertise with ASC 740 accounting for income taxes beneficial
- Focus on Financial Services at best
- Fluency in German and English
- Strong analytical and Excel skills with an attention to detail
- Solid communication, interpersonal and time management skills, with an
ability to prioritize.
