As our Tax Compliance Manager for Rest of Africa you’ll play a key part in
delivering a world class Tax Compliance Manager function, getting hands-on with
managing and delivering accurate, timely, and compliant tax filings and
obligations for assigned Sout African entities, in accordance with applicable
tax laws, accounting standards, and group policies.
The role ensures that tax compliance processes are well controlled, consistently
applied, and supported by reliable data and documentation, contributing to
effective tax governance, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting
integrity in a NYSE listed environment. Your drive and ideas will help us move

What you’ll do
- You’ll take ownership of work that gives us our competitive edge, including:
- Tax Compliance Delivery
- Review tax returns, filings, and declarations across relevant tax types:
Corporate income tax, Gaming Taxes, Indirect taxes (VAT/GST, sales tax),
Withholding taxes and payroll taxes (where applicable)
- Ensure filings are accurate, complete, and submitted within statutory
deadlines
- Review timely and accurate tax payments and reconciliations
Compliance Process Management
- Maintain and manage tax compliance calendars for assigned entities or
jurisdictions
- Track deliverables and ensure accountability for timely completion
- Follow and apply standardised compliance processes and templates
Data Collection, Validation, and Reconciliation
- Collect financial and transactional data required for tax filings
- Perform data validation and reconciliations between: Tax returns, Financial
statements and Accounting records
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances
Coordination with Stakeholders
- Liaise with local finance teams and external tax advisors
- Provide guidance on data requirements and compliance processes
- Ensure timely and accurate information flow for tax deliverables
Tax Audit and Authority Support
- Assist the Tax Director with tax audits, reviews, and authority queries
Tax Governance and Controls
- Apply the group’s Tax Governance Framework and internal controls
- Follow defined review procedures, approval processes, and documentation
standards
- Identify and escalate data issues, control gaps, or compliance risks
Tax Reporting Reviews
- Support the tax reporting process by reviewing the Rest of African CGU’s
detailed current and deferred tax calculations and providing robust
explanations for tax adjustments therein, analyse and explain the effective
tax rate, review the tax provisions and accruals
- Ensure alignment between tax returns, provisions, and financial statements
Legislative Compliance and Monitoring
- Stay informed of relevant tax legislation and compliance requirements
- Support implementation of changes affecting tax compliance processes
- Update templates, trackers, and working practices as required
External Advisor Coordination
- Work with external advisors to support compliance preparation and review
- Ensure deliverables are timely, accurate, and aligned with group standards
- Assist in managing information requests and documentation exchange
Process Improvement and Efficiency
- Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes and workflows
- Support standardisation and documentation of procedures
- Contribute to initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data quality
Team Support and Knowledge Development
- Support and guide Tax Compliance Specialists
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and development of best practices
- Build technical expertise in relevant tax areas and compliance requirements

- Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting
- Honours degree in Tax / Masters degree in Tax
- Professional qualification CA(SA), CPA, CTA, or equivalent
- 8 + years’ experience in tax compliance across various jurisdictions
- 5 + years’ experience in tax compliance management leading teams of more than
three team members
- Experience in a multinational and / or listed company environment
specifically in African countries such as Botswana, Rwanda, Kenya, Nigeria,
Zambia, Malawi, Ghana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Cameroon, Uganda and Namibia
- Strong knowledge of tax legislation and principles, OECD guidelines and BEPS
initiatives, including Pillar Two
- Strong knowledge of tax accounting and reporting in line with IFRS (IAS 12)
- Strategic thinking and commercial acumen
- Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to operate in a complex, multi‑jurisdictional environment
- Strong analytical, governance, and risk management capability
- High level of integrity and professional judgment
Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve
It would be great if you also have some of the following skills:
- Knowledge and experience with accounting and reporting software: Business
Central / Navision and Microsoft TM1
- Knowledge and experience with tax software: Thomson Reuters (Orbitax and OTP)
- Experience or knowledge of SOX
