Sr. Tax Analyst - Motor Fuel

From the employer###POSITION SUMMARY### This position will be responsible for assisting with the Company’s tax compliance procedures and filing returns and making payments. In addition to core responsibilities, this role is expected to operate as a modern tax professional - leveraging data, technology, and AI to transform tax processes. The Senior Tax Analyst will drive automation, enhance data quality, and lead process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability across tax workstreams, both individually and for the broader team.
###RESPONSIBILITIES### Essential Job Responsibilities: Prepare and file complex federal, state, and local tax returns and related documents. Conduct in-depth tax research and strategic analysis to support decision-making. Provide detailed analysis of changes in tax legislation and impact on the company.
Support and potentially lead external tax audits. Respond to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities. Lead and manage specific tax projects and initiatives, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
Prepare and deliver detailed tax reports and presentations to senior management. Advise and mentor junior tax analysts, providing guidance and support. Leverage AI-powered tools and technologies (e.
g. , Copilot, automation platforms, and data analytics solutions) to streamline tax return preparation, research, and compliance workflows — driving greater accuracy and efficiency. Identify and champion opportunities to transform tax-related processes by evaluating current workflows, recommending automation or AI-driven solutions, and leading implementation efforts that reduce manual effort and improve turnaround times.
Stay current on emerging AI technologies and digital tools relevant to the tax and finance landscape, proactively bringing forward ideas to modernize processes and enhance the team's capabilities.

###QUALIFICATIONS### Bachelor’s degree in accounting or commensurate
###experience### 3-5 years related experience. Prior motor fuel
###experience### preferred. Effective team player able to work with others in various areas (operations, treasury, finance, etc.) Knowledgeable about tax responsibility area Displays strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving
###skills### Has above average attention to detail and high degree of speed/accuracy in data entry Willingness and ability to work in fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and deadlines Strong time management
