- Compensation Range
- Annual Salary: $93,000.00 - $109,000.00 (Amount based on relevant experience,
- skills, and competencies.)

About This Job
- The main purpose of this job is to be responsible for accurate and timely
- preparation, filing and administration of tax returns. This position will build
- relationships with internal and external partners and enhance the ability of the
- Commerce Trust Company to expand its trust/investment management opportunities
- with current and prospective clients.
- Essential Functions
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation/review, filing, and administration of
tax returns, including individual, tax-exempt, partnership, gift, estate and
fiduciary returns
- Serve as a local resource for consulting and technical tax research in a wide
area of taxation for external and internal clients
- Build relationships with internal and external partners and enhance the
ability of the Commerce Trust Company (CTC) to expand trust/investment
management opportunities with current and prospective high net-worth clients
- Coordinate scanning documentation into tax preparation software, maintaining
organization of electronic files associated with each client, monitoring of
deadlines and tracking of work status through maintaining Commerce Clearing
House (CCH) practice management
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Strong working knowledge of estate, gift, trust, nonprofit, individual and
generation-skipping transfer tax is mandatory
- Specialization in one or more return types
- Advanced knowledge of trust services including administration, tax law and
investments and capacity to identify problems and recommend solutions in an
advice-based context
- Advanced knowledge of business terms, trust and investment relationships and
ability to interpret and summarize provisions of complex legal trust, real
estate and corporate business documents
- Excellent analytical, technical and communication skills in a team and
multi-location environment with high focus on client service.
- Strong skill set working in an integrated software and paperless tax
preparation environment.
- Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the
ability to manage, plan and execute multiple priorities with limited
supervision
- Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and
interpersonal communication skills with a high focus on client services
- Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an
optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our
culture and Core Values
- Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and tax
preparation (CCH ProSystems fx)
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and
experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in the preparation, review and filing of tax returns
with focus on Individual, fiduciary, nonprofit and partnership returns
required
- CPA certification and/or equivalent work experience in fiduciary, estate, or
income taxation required

where it is filled. At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the
facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current
base pay is $93,000 to $109,000 annually. This position will be eligible for
additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will
correspond to meeting performance goals.
