Job Purpose/Overview

  • Tax Product is one of the key products within Custody Services, a leading
  • provider of global custody and local custody services to cross border
  • institutional investors and intermediaries.
  • Tax Product is responsible for defining and executing on a product roadmap for
  • tax services delivered to cross border institutional investors. The product
  • roadmap includes defining tax reclaim, reduction at source and CGT services;
  • managing cost of production across global hub and country locations; defining
  • and executing on a global technology strategy; tracking and responding to
  • regulatory changes; and implementing and executing on a risk and control
  • framework.
  • The Tax Product Manager has a tax risk, commercial and client remit.  In this
  • regard the Product Manager is expected to understand the relevant tax law so
  • that Citi can be compliant with its obligations as well as provide our clients
  • with best-in-class services.  This will require contribution towards the
  • development of short and long-term objectives for Citi’s tax product offerings,
  • technology and operations strategies, and to drive change in partnership with
  • global, regional and country stakeholders.  To be successful, the Tax Product
  • Manager must have a strong understanding of both cross border institutional
  • clients and global market tax practices and regulations.
  • This Role is a “Controlled Function” Role as defined by the Central Bank of
  • Ireland Reform Act 2010 and Principal Regulations 2011, and amending Regulations
  • 2014, 2015.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product
  • Monitoring tax changes (with focus on Germany, Austria and Switzerland) for

impact on clients or services and, when necessary, implementing strategic

solutions

  • Defining tax servicing and client delivery standards for global and local

custody services in partnership with Regions, Operations, Corporate Tax and

other stakeholders

  • Executing on the tax strategy in partnership with Technology and Operations
  • Following market, industry and client trends to further develop Citi’s

products and solutions platforms

  • Managing client and competitor market research and developing the product

innovation roadmap

  • Providing an enhanced client services function within Tax Product and

supporting key clients on tax related issues

  • Developing a market advocacy program for tax services that demonstrates

industry and local market leadership

  • Participating in industry initiatives relating to tax services and the

application of new technologies

Risk & Control

  • Act as a tax technical expert with regards to German tax law interpretation;

liaise with tax advisors if required

  • Actively seek to identify and remediate existing and potential tax risks
  • Prepare responses to tax authorities' inquiries

Technology

  • Lead on execution on tax platform modernisation, including:
  • Immediate focus on German tax law changes - MikaDiv system developments
  • Focus on tax systems solutioning for strategic Custody projects
  • Contribute to tax solutioning for tax authorities data demand within tax

systems (with focus on Germany, Austria, Switzerland) – transaction

analysis, transactions monitoring, approach to EU FASTER data gathering and

reporting requirements.

  • Partnering with global shared services utilities that provide centralized tax

related services such as FATCA processing

  • Support on defining, prioritizing, and managing an annually defined

technology book of work with Regions, Operations and Technology

The ideal candidate should have a proven success record in financial services

tax. The candidate should be able to demonstrate a track record of project

managing a complex product set with a hands-on leadership style.

Experience, skills and capabilities

  • Relevant experience in tax/custody in financial organisation / consulting

company

  • Expertise in German tax regulations applicable to taxation of securities
  • Both German and English language fluency
  • Understanding of global tax regulations relevant to a custodian
  • Understanding of tax related operational processes such as reduction at

source and tax reclaim processing

  • Ability to work unsupervised and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances

dictate

  • Ability to team, build networks and relationships internally and externally
  • Attention to detail and process/analytic mindset
  • Comfortable with performing data investigations that require a high degree of

accuracy with tight timescales

  • Ability to create business analysis, troubleshoot data quality issues, and

conduct exploratory and descriptive analysis of business datasets

  • Ability to structure and break down problems, develop solutions, and to drive

to results

  • Familiarity with product development methodologies
  • Project Management skills with experience leading large cross functional

initiatives

  • Intellectual curiosity, analytical and conceptual thinker
  • Proactively seeks and develops new opportunities

Please Note the Applicable Primary Location Full Time Salary Range for the Role:

110,000 – 195,000 EUR
