About the job
As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in Managing the
Alfa Laval U.S. Group’s indirect tax function. You will have the opportunity to
ensure accurate, timely compliance across U.S. sales and use tax (SUT),
international direct tax (VAT and GST), contributing to the overall success and
growth of our organization. Currently this is a hybrid position in Richmond, VA.
As a part of the team, you will
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns across
multi-state jurisdictions
- Manage exemption certificates to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Optimize and integrate the Sales Tax Engine (Vertex) with the ERP system
- Analyze and utilize company systems and data for tax compliance
- Administer sales tax credits and implement strategies to minimize liabilities
- Conduct nexus studies and facilitate state/local tax registrations
- Respond to regulatory correspondence, inquiries, and audits
- Collaborate with external service providers for specialized tax matters
- Provide cross-functional tax support and deliver training/education to
internal sales and customer service teams to resolve customer billing
questions and issues
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual international VAT and GST
returns across Canada and Europe
- Address regulatory correspondence, inquiries, and audits for international
indirect taxes
- Partner with external service providers to ensure global compliance
- Deliver cross-functional tax support and training/education to internal sales
and customer service teams to resolve customer billing questions and issues
- Ensure compliance and file returns for Gross Receipts Tax
- Maintain business license compliance and file necessary returns
- Support business operations with tax expertise
- Monitor and address regulatory changes impacting the business
- Contribute to various project work as needed
- Develop and improve written procedures for tax processes
- Drive continuous improvement of departmental areas of work and processes
What you know
- You have bachelor’s degree (accounting or related business degree) with relevant
experience, and
- Minimum 8 years of Tax experience at the public or industry level
- Advanced general accounting knowledge
- Comprehensive knowledge of indirect tax and regulatory compliance at the
federal and state/local levels
- Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Critical thinking and problem-solving
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills

We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job, background, skills,
and experience to get it right. The salary range for this role Is typically
between $90,000 - $110,000.
