Role description

From the employer

Title: Associate, Tax & Accounting Location: Floral Park, NY Schedule: Hybrid Status: Full-Time, Exempt Company Overview Established in 1947, Wagner, Ferber, Fine & Ackerman/WFFA Advisors (“WFFA”) is a premier accounting and advisory firm serving the New York metropolitan area from offices in Manhattan and Long Island. As a member of the Windsor Path network, the firm provides assurance, tax planning and preparation, and business consulting services tailored to closely held companies, their owners, and high-net-worth individuals.

WFFA prides itself on a boutique service model that combines deep technical expertise with the personalized attention of a trusted partner. The team is dedicated to fostering long-term success through innovative problem solving and a commitment to the continuous professional development of every employee. Brief Summary WFFA is adding an Associate to its team.

This is an early career role reporting to a Manager, with day to day direction from a Senior Associate. You will work on client engagements across tax, accounting, and attest, building the technical foundation and work habits that every later role at the firm depends on. The focus is producing work that is right the first time and ready for review.

That means organized, tied out workpapers with open items clearly flagged, so the people reviewing your work can review it rather than redo it. When you hit a technical question, you will be expected to research it and bring a proposed answer, not just the question. There is a clear path to Senior Associate.

You are ready when your work consistently clears review with few notes, you handle a defined set of return and engagement types largely on your own, you manage your own deadlines and client follow up without prompting, and others can rely on your workpapers without redoing them.

• Prepare individual and business tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120) under supervision • Perform bookkeeping, reconciliations, and general ledger work under supervision • Perform assigned attest fieldwork under supervision • Produce workpapers that are organized, tied out, and ready for review, with open items clearly flagged • Compile and organize source documents and supporting schedules • Perform basic technical research using firm resources and bring a proposed answer to the team • Communicate with clients to gather information and request missing items in a professional and timely way • Track and report your time accurately and understand the time budget on your assignments • Maintain work files and follow firm processes and procedures to firm standards

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, tax, or a related field • 1 to 2 years of experience; internship experience is a plus • CPA eligible or actively pursuing licensure • Working knowledge of GAAP and basic tax concepts • Proficiency in Excel and the ability to learn the firm's tax, accounting, and operational technology • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow through Compensation: Competitive base salary, discretionary annual bonus tied to firm and individual performance, and benefits plan.
