We are currently seeking a Client Service Director for our Spoke-Tax group. This role is responsible for managing 1040 tax services for The Spoke, overseeing a large portfolio of individual tax clients. As the primary point of contact, this position ensures smooth collaboration with wealth advisory teams. Responsibilities include supervising seasonal tax preparers and reviewers, maintaining compliance with credentialing standards, and guaranteeing the timely delivery and quality of tax services. Additionally, the role involves monitoring key business metrics, driving billing and accounts receivable follow-up, and identifying opportunities to enhance client value across the firm.

Job Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary Client Relationship Leader for numerous individual tax clients, including a dedicated book of ~300 Spoke-only 1040 clients.
  • Provide holistic client service in collaboration with Spoke wealth advisory teams, ensuring seamless integration across service lines.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, set clear expectations, and manage project timelines and deliverables.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise a team of seasonal and casual tax preparers and reviewers.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to preparers and reviewers, ensuring quality and consistency in tax return preparation.
  • Review and sign individual tax returns as capacity allows, maintaining compliance with credentialing requirements (EA, CPA, JD).

Operational Excellence

  • Monitor key business metrics including utilization, realization, billing, and accounts receivable (AR).
  • Follow up on outstanding AR and ensure timely billing practices.
  • Track project realization and identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.

Business Development & Growth

  • Identify and pursue seamless business opportunities within the firm, enhancing client value and expanding service offerings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to cross-sell services and deepen client relationships.

Job Requirements

  • Experience: 6 years of relevant experience required.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Certification/Licenses: CPA is required (JD or Enrolled Agent is acceptable in lieu).
  • Travel: <10%
