About the role

We are seeking a Corporate Tax professional from Manager to Associate Director level to join our highly skilled specialist tax team, who provide tax advice to public, private and multinational companies across many diverse sectors. You will be an integral member of the Tax Division, responsible for managing, reviewing, and administering a client list and developing and executing a business development strategy to assist the Tax Division to meet its business development objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform compliance and advisory work to a quality standard and delegate work to more junior staff
  • Liaise with the clients to obtain information required to complete work in progress
  • Research and draft tax advice with limited supervision
  • Review the tax implications of prospectuses and undertake due diligence
  • Provide feedback, coaching and technical support to staff members
  • Develop an area of expertise recognised throughout the Firm
  • Review the work schedules of junior team members and assist in the planning of the team work schedule
  • Identify and develop existing and potential business opportunities
  • Present to the Tax Group and the wider firm on relevant areas of tax reform
  • Undertake complex and/or specialised assignments
  • Identify and develop existing and potential business opportunities
  • Administrative Compliance
  • Administrative matters such as maintenance of electronic timesheets, preparation of bills, managing WIPs, interviewing prospective candidates, training, committee membership, marketing, etc
  • Skills and experience
  • Minimum 6 years’ tax experience within a Chartered or CPA accounting practice.
  • Relevant degree qualification, with CA, CPA or Master of Tax completed.
  • Strong corporate and international tax knowledge, including Pillar 2.
  • Strong client and project management skills, with the ability to proactively manage stakeholders, coordinate delivery teams and meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify tax risks, technical issues and planning opportunities when reviewing tax provisions and income tax returns
  • Experience using tax effect accounting software such as CCH, OneSource, Corporate Planner or similar, and applying technology to improve tax reporting and compliance processes
  • Strong technical tax capability and an interest in developing a personal brand through thought leadership, including client presentations, webinars, technical articles and other market-facing content
  • Technically proficient and current with tax law, systems and process developments.
  • Able to review junior staff work effectively, identifying issues and opportunities to add value.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with prior experience managing a team.
  • Professional presentation, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with APS/Solution 6 and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
