We are seeking experienced customs and trade compliance professionals to support
a project focused on Mexican import/export regulations, tariff classification,
and customs compliance.
This project involves reviewing realistic customs scenarios, documenting how
experienced professionals approach complex regulatory decisions, developing
expert reference solutions, and validating technical analyses. The resulting
expert materials will support the development and evaluation of advanced AI
systems for professional workflows.
This is flexible, project-based consulting work intended for professionals who
are actively practicing or have recent hands-on experience in Mexican customs
and trade compliance.

Engagement Type: Independent Contractor / Project-Based (Flexible, Part-Time)
Location: Remote (Mexico)
Compensation: $12/hr
Scope of work: 10 hrs-12 hrs Weekly

What You’ll Do
- Review realistic import and export scenarios involving Mexican customs
regulations.
- Develop expert reference solutions for customs classification and trade
compliance tasks.
- Document the reasoning behind customs decisions and regulatory
interpretations.
- Review and validate alternative solutions for technical accuracy,
completeness, and regulatory compliance.
- Identify missing information, incorrect assumptions, or inappropriate
decision sequences.
- Reference applicable regulations where appropriate (e.g., Ley Aduanera,
LIGIE, TIGIE, NOMs, RRNA, T-MEC).
- Collaborate with our project team to ensure expert knowledge is accurately
represented.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of recent, hands-on experience in customs brokerage, tariff
classification, trade compliance, import/export operations, or a related
field.
- Current or recent (within the past two years) practical experience with
Mexican customs regulations and procedures.
- One or more of the following professional backgrounds:
- Licensed Agente Aduanal
- Clasificador Arancelario
- Trade Compliance Specialist
- Customs Compliance Specialist
- Import/Export Compliance Professional
- Customs or Trade Consultant
- Professional fluency in Spanish.
- Ability to clearly explain and document the reasoning behind regulatory and
classification decisions.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
- Tariff classification (Clasificación Arancelaria)
- LIGIE / TIGIE
- T-MEC / USMCA
- NOMs and RRNA
- Customs valuation
- Rules of origin
- Pedimentos
- VUCEM
- Customs audits or trade compliance reviews
Experience using official Mexican customs resources (e.g., ANAM, SAT, SNICE,
VUCEM) is preferred. Experience with commercial customs software is welcome but
not required.
Working proficiency in English sufficient to understand project instructions and
communicate with the project team.
Knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, HTS classification, or cross-border
Mexico-U.S. trade operations is a plus.
