This position performs technical and customer service duties in support of department operations.

  • Processes motor vehicle renewals.
  • Processes disabled persons' applications.
  • Processes motor vehicle transfers.
  • Issues license plates, including specialty plates and dealer plates.
  • Receives and processes property tax payments.
  • Processes refunds.
  • Serves as Passport Agent as needed.
  • Receives and processes special taxes, including VIT, Hotel/Motel tax, and liquor license renewals.
  • Balances the cashbox daily.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**

  • Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of cash management principles.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skill in the provision of customer services.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Must have at least one ( 1 ) year of work experience.
  • Must be able to type at least 30 wpm.

**Complexity/Scope of Work**

  • The work consists of related technical and customer service duties. Strict regulations contribute to the complexity of the position.
  • The purpose of this position is to perform technical duties related to the collection of taxes. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations.

**Physical Demands/Work Environment**

Occasionally

  • Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 25 pounds in all directions.
  • Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools.
  • Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business.

**Other Requirements/Information**

  • Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license.
  • The Webb County Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this position. Pre-employment drug~~/~~and alcohol testing, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and a criminal background check are required.
  • This position is covered by Civil Service; therefore, it is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies.
