Sr. Manager, Tax & Accounting
Role description
From the employerTitle: Senior Manager Location: Floral Park, NY or Manhattan, NY Schedule: Hybrid Status: Full-Time, Exempt Company Overview Established in 1947, Wagner, Ferber, Fine & Ackerman/WFFA Advisors (“WFFA”) is a premier accounting and advisory firm serving the New York metropolitan area from offices in Manhattan and Long Island. As a member of the Windsor Path network, the firm provides assurance, tax planning and preparation, and business consulting services tailored to closely held companies, their owners, and high-net-worth individuals.
WFFA prides itself on a boutique service model that combines deep technical expertise with the personalized attention of a trusted partner. The team is dedicated to fostering long-term success through innovative problem solving and a commitment to the continuous professional development of every employee. Brief Summary WFFA is adding a Senior Manager to its accounting and tax practice.
This is a senior leadership seat reporting to the partners, with Managers and their teams reporting up through you. The role exists so that work can leave the firm at partner quality without a partner needing to touch it. You will own and grow a meaningful client portfolio, hold release authority on that portfolio within defined risk parameters, and serve as the go to resource on the firm's hardest technical issues.
Just as important, you will build the Manager tier beneath you and have a real voice in how the firm runs. Protected nonbillable time is built into the role so you can lead technology and process improvements, and you will have access to centralized resources across the Windsor Path platform. There is a defined path to Partner, and the firm is clear about what it takes: consistently carrying partner level responsibility, generating growth the firm can attribute to you, owning relationships and people rather than just tasks, and contributing to how the firm operates beyond your own book.
Responsibilities
• Own and grow a significant client portfolio, serving as the senior advisor on complex matters • Act as final reviewer and release authority on work leaving the firm for your portfolio, without mandatory partner review, within defined risk parameters.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or tax; Master's or advanced degree preferred • CPA required where attest sign off or licensure demands it; an exceptional Tax or CAS leader may be considered without a CPA • Significant experience with demonstrated leadership at the Manager level or above • Technical depth to advise on the most complex situations in the service line • Strong executive presence and relationship management with clients, team members, and outside stakeholders • Track record of contributing to practice management and firm operations • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and retain teams • Active involvement in professional or community leadership preferred Compensation: Competitive base salary, discretionary annual bonus tied to firm and individual performance, and benefits plan.
Specific compensation details will be discussed directly with qualified candidates. Additional Information All of your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines. At WFFA, we believe great work happens when people feel welcomed, respected, and supported.
