If you’re looking for a role where you can lead, influence, and make a real impact, join HSBC and fulfil your potential.

HSBC is one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organisations, operating in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is—helping businesses thrive, economies prosper, and people achieve their ambitions.

We’re looking for an experienced professional to join us as Head of Tax (GCB 4) in Korea, leading the Tax function across two legal entities: SEL (banking) and SLS (securities).

In a fast-changing tax environment, you’ll lead Korea Tax compliance, reporting, tax accounting, audits, and—most importantly—tax risk management. You’ll work closely with the Country CFO, Regional Head of Tax, business leaders, and external stakeholders to ensure strong governance and effective support for business growth.

[Key Responsibilities]

Lead and manage tax risk in Korea, balancing risk appetite and tax efficiency

Ensure strong tax controls and compliance with local tax law and HSBC policies

Deliver all required tax filings, reporting, tax accounting, and audit support

Advise the business on new products, transactions, and strategic initiatives

Act as the main point of contact for tax authorities, auditors, and internal stakeholders

Support and implement global and regional tax change initiatives locally

Build strong relationships with industry bodies and the wider tax community

Lead, coach, and develop the local Tax team; raise tax awareness across the business

Maintain and update Tax procedure manuals, aligned to Tax FIM and global standards

Run ongoing monitoring and periodic reviews to confirm controls remain effective

[Knowledge and Experience]

Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Tax, Accounting, or Finance

10+ years’ experience in tax/accounting (financial services or CPA firm preferred)

Strong expertise in Korean tax

Professional qualification such as KICPA (required)

Strong communication and influencing skills; confident working with senior stakeholders

Proven people leadership experience

Fluent in Korean and English (written and spoken)

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
