WHAT IS THE ROLE? The Head of Accounting, Tax and Compliance is responsible for leading the organization’s accounting, tax, and financial control environment. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, timely tax compliance, effective SOX controls, and strong governance across all finance processes.

The position serves as a key advisor to the CFO on accounting policy, compliance risk, audit matters, and internal control effectiveness. WHAT WILL YOU DO? Accounting Lead the accounting function, including general ledger management, month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, accruals, provisions, fixed assets, and financial statement preparation.

Ensure timely and accurate preparation of management accounts, statutory accounts, and supporting schedules. Maintain balance sheet integrity through effective review and reconciliation of all key accounts. Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures in line with applicable financial reporting standards.

Review complex accounting treatments, estimates, and adjustments to ensure accuracy and compliance. Support budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting through reliable financial data and analysis. Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and efficiency gains within the accounting function.

Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff to build a high-performing and accountable team. Tax Oversee all direct and indirect tax compliance activities, including preparation, review, filing, and payment of taxes. Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, regulations, filing deadlines, and reporting requirements.

Manage tax accruals and provisions and ensure accurate tax balances are reflected in the financial statements. Coordinate with external tax advisors on technical issues, interpretations, and planned filings. Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their implications for the business.

Support tax audits, inquiries, and reviews by tax authorities. Maintain tax records, working papers, and compliance calendars to ensure timely submissions and complete documentation. Identify tax risks and recommend mitigation actions to reduce exposure and strengthen compliance.

SOX Compliance Maintain and enhance the organization’s SOX compliance framework, including documentation, testing, remediation, and ongoing monitoring. Ensure key financial reporting processes are supported by well-designed preventive and detective controls, with appropriate segregation of duties and approvals. Maintain process narratives, flowcharts, risk-control matrices, and evidence supporting control execution.

Coordinate SOX walkthroughs, testing, and issue follow-up with internal audit, external auditors, and other stakeholders. Track control deficiencies, assess their significance, and drive timely remediation to closure. Review journal entries, account reconciliations, manual adjustments, and sensitive estimates in line with control expectations.

Partner with IT and other functions on SOX-relevant general controls, including access management, change management, and system-based controls where applicable. Support quarterly certifications, sub-certifications, disclosure controls, and CFO reporting requirements. Escalate significant deficiencies, material weaknesses, repeat exceptions, and other control issues promptly to the CFO.

Promote a strong control culture across the finance function and ensure all staff understand their SOX responsibilities. WHAT YOU'LL NEED? • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Professional accounting qualification required, such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent. • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in accounting, tax, audit, or compliance, including at least 3 to 5 years in a leadership role.
