To strengthen our global ISS STOXX Tax Function, we are looking for a motivated and ambitious Manager Direct Tax Compliance & Tax Reporting - Germany (m/f/d) to join our team in Eschborn.
This role offers a unique opportunity to combine German and international corporate tax expertise with tax accounting, financial reporting, Pillar Two, tax risk management, and strategic tax projects in a dynamic international environment.
Working closely with the Global Head of Tax, you will collaborate with senior stakeholders across Finance, Accounting, Legal, Treasury, and external advisors while taking ownership of key direct tax, tax reporting, and tax accounting matters.
This position is ideal for a qualified German Tax Advisor (Steuerberater/in) seeking an international in-house role with significant ownership, visibility, and long-term career development opportunities.
Your Responsibilities
- Direct Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Take ownership of corporate income tax compliance for our German group entities.
- Manage and coordinate the preparation and review of corporate income tax returns (Körperschaftsteuer), trade tax returns (Gewerbesteuer) and other relevant German direct tax filings, declarations and notifications.
- Review tax assessments and tax notices, manage tax appeals, tax payments and cash tax planning processes.
- Coordinate external tax advisors and ensure timely and high-quality compliance delivery.
- Monitor legislative developments, assess their impact on the business and implement changes on tax compliance and reporting processes.
- Tax Accounting & Reporting
- Manage tax accounting and tax reporting under IFRS and HGB, including preparation and review of current and deferred tax calculations under IAS 12, interim tax reporting under IAS 34 and the preparation of tax notes, disclosures and tax reporting packages.
- Support quarterly and annual financial statement processes for tax positions in close cooperation with Accounting and Finance.
- Manage tax forecasting and effective tax rate analysis, and support tax-sensitive business planning and forecasting activities.
- Participate in OECD Pillar Two calculations and reporting processes.
- Act as a key contact for external auditors on tax accounting and tax reporting matters.
- Drive continuous improvements in tax reporting processes and controls.
- Tax Risk Management
- Identify, assess, monitor, and report tax risks across the Group.
- Prepare and document uncertain tax positions under IFRIC 23.
- Support tax governance, tax controls, and risk mitigation initiatives across the Group.
- Tax Audits & Controversy
- Support the management of tax audits and coordinate responses to tax audit requests.
- Prepare technical documentation and supporting files.
- Manage relationships with external advisors and tax authorities.
- Strategic Tax Projects
- Support tax aspects of M&A transactions, legal entity integration, restructuring and reorganization projects.
- Lead or support international tax projects, strategic business initiatives, and cross-border transactions.
- Prepare technical tax memoranda and provide practical guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes through automation, digitalization and the effective use of AI-enabled solutions in the tax function.
- Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the global Tax Team and other internal stakeholders.
- Support tax knowledge development within the organization through training and coaching of internal stakeholders.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders and partner with Finance, Accounting, Legal and business stakeholders on tax implications of strategic and operational decisions.
- Your Profile
Qualifications
- Successfully completed degree in Business Administration, Economics, Law, Taxation, Finance, or a comparable field.
- Successfully completed German tax advisor qualification (Steuerberaterexamen).
- Typically 5+ years of relevant professional experience, gained within Big 4, international tax advisory firms or in-house tax departments of multinational companies.
- Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of German tax law, especially corporate income tax and trade tax.
- Good knowledge of tax accounting under IFRS and HGB, particularly with respect to IAS 12.
- Experience with tax reporting and financial statement processes.
- Experience with tax risk management and IFRIC 23.
- Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA is highly desirable.
- Exposure to Pillar Two is advantageous.

- Very good German and English communication skills, both written and spoken.
