**What is the Opportunity?**
As the Managing Director, Market Data, Tax & Disclosure in Canadian Wealth Management Operations, you will help drive strategy in a large diverse group of departments that supports multiple business lines across RBC. Areas under the existing mandate include Asset Servicing departments such as Corporate Actions, Entitlements and Securities Processing. Tax Reporting responsibilities include both Canadian registered and non-registered tax reporting as well as Global Tax Reporting which includes FATCA, CRS and IRS reporting obligations. Pricing and Performance groups include performance reconciliation, Firm Pricing responsibilities and Book Cost. In addition, you will oversee the Disclosure group supporting all business lines in terms of fulfilment of Client Statements, Performance Reports, Trade Confirmations and other related activities for all RBC’s Wealth Management clients. You will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring RBC complies with all relevant regulatory requirements under various Tax and other regulations governed by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Revenue Québec, and other tax authorities as well as other applicable regulatory bodies such as Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO).
You will lead various departments accountable for ensuring continued compliance with evolving legislation as well as internal compliance requirements. You will provide oversight, coaching, and strategic direction to a large team of experienced managers, collaborate cross-functionally across business lines, and represent RBC at industry associations and regulatory forums.
The position requires advanced knowledge of various regulatory and industry laws and its operational impacts. A need for proven strong leadership to manage and develop high-performing teams, and the ability to drive transformation across systems, processes, and controls, businesses and industry.
With extensive exposure to internal and external stakeholders, this position offers an opportunity to shape the future of RBC’s Wealth Management Canada Operations model while maintaining a client- and risk-focused culture and related controls.
**What will you do?**
- Lead a large team of professionals ensuring and directing regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and strategic oversight for groups that fall under this mandate ensuring flawless delivery to clients and regulatory bodies.
- Develop and execute short- and long-term strategies to ensure operational readiness for day-to-day deliverables, new regulations and system implementations.
- Act as the subject matter expert and senior liaison for all matters with regulators (CRA, IRS, CIRO, etc.), internal and external auditors, industry peers, and key internal stakeholders.
- Oversee the design, documentation, and improvement of internal controls, ensuring they meet compliance, audit, and enterprise risk standards.
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional and enterprise-wide initiatives related to relevant areas such as strategy, compliance, technology upgrades, and operational efficiency as required.
- Ensure staff development through coaching, knowledge sharing, succession planning, and performance management.
- Monitor departmental metrics, analyze data trends, and report on operational effectiveness and risk indicators.
- Support business continuity, operational resilience, and regulatory examinations involving Wealth Management Canada Operations areas under this mandate.
- Influence policy, process, and system enhancements by collaborating with business, technology, compliance, risk partners and external industry partners and regulators.
- Proactively identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies to ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant laws and industry standards.
- Represent and lead on behalf of RBC at Industry Associations and Regulatory forums.
- Manage high risk events and escalations internally and externally on ongoing basis
**What must you have to succeed?**
**Must-haves:**
- 10+ years of experience in financial services operations, tax reporting background preferred, and regulatory compliance experience.
- Strong knowledge and experience in financial industry, Canadian and international tax knowledge, including CRA, Revenue Québec, IRS and international reporting requirements and standards.
- Proven leadership experience managing very large and diverse teams and complex operational functions and relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and drive through strategic change, continual process improvements, and risk mitigation.
- Experience working in a complex, multi business line environment and product set.
- Proactively manage and actively contribute to a diverse set of stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
**Nice-to-have:**
- Solid understanding of Wealth Management services and processes. Previous experience in Operations a definitive asset.
- Graduate Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting designation.
- Canadian Securities related courses.
- Knowledge of audit, compliance, or tax risk management in a brokerage or wealth management environment.
- Working knowledge of many industry related systems and providers.
