From the employer

Property Tax Appeals Consultant (Washington State) Hourly (Contract-Based): $75–$100/hour About Abode Money Abode Money is the first-ever AI financial home manager, using AI to save homeowners on property taxes, insurance, mortgage and more. Homeowners spend $2T+ per year on their home. Not only is it difficult to buy a home today, but it's become just as challenging to continue owning your home. We're going to be the first to create a relationship with 80M+ homeowners in the US by saving them money year after year.

We've raised $23M from Permanent Capital, Drive Capital, Sequoia, Core VC and The 81 Collection. Abode Money is a rapidly growing technology company dedicated to helping homeowners save on the financial aspects of homeownership. With tens of thousands of homeowners already on our platform, we are expanding into Washington and seeking an experienced Property Tax Appeals Consultant to guide our team through regulatory and operational requirements. This contract-based, hourly consulting position is ideal for someone with deep expertise in Washington’s property tax protest system who can serve as a trusted advisor during our early market entry. There is also potential for this opportunity to evolve into a mutually beneficial partnership as we expand our property tax offering in Washington. We proudly partner with leading home financial services companies, including USAA, Lemonade, Compass, Nerdwallet, CreditKarma, Monarch Money, Consumer Reports, Thumbtack, and more. What You’ll Do As our Property Tax Appeals Consultant, you will support Abode Money’s team by providing: Regulatory Insight: Clarify Washington statutes, administrative processes, and compliance requirements for property tax protests. County-Specific Knowledge: Advise on local nuances and best practices for the five largest counties in Washington. Filing Processes: Guide our team on when and how to file petitions (TRIM notices, deadlines, evidence) and explain requirements for online vs. paper submissions. Hearing Procedures: Share insights on the hearing process and best practices for effective protest preparation. Who We’re Looking For

You are an ideal fit if you

Have direct experience working within the property tax ecosystem—through your own practice, at an established firm, or within a government agency. Are deeply familiar with county-specific procedures, deadlines, and rules, especially for the largest counties in Washington. Possess an innovative mindset and are willing to find creative solutions while adhering to all local guidelines. Are available to consult on an as-needed, hourly basis via phone or Zoom. Why This Role Matters We are on a mission to make homeownership more affordable. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in helping us expand into new states smoothly and responsibly—ensuring we build on a strong, compliant foundation. This is a flexible, high-impact consulting opportunity to contribute your expertise without requiring a full-time commitment. Our Core Values The biggest thing we pride ourselves on is autonomy. You can't move fast through committee decision-making, so we hire people who want to own workstreams outright.

Take ownership. This is yours. We build everything through single-threaded autonomy. One person owns the outcome, makes the calls, and sees it through. We believe in "asking for forgiveness, not permission" so you can make unencumbered decisions.

Move fast. Decide. Ship. Learn. Repeat. Speed is our edge. Perfection is the enemy of momentum. We will forever move faster than our competition.

Be resourceful. Find ways to do more with less. Constraints don't slow us down. They make us inventive. There's always a way through, and the people who own their work find it. "That's not my job" isn't a sentence anyone here finishes.

Think big and challenge convention. Dare to do things differently. You don't change the world with incrementally better solutions. The systems we're fixing are broken because everyone accepted them. We question the default, build the better answer, and refuse to blend in.

Measure everything. Data is the tiebreaker. We turn instincts into evidence, hunches into experiments, and opinions into numbers. If we can measure it, we can beat it. Interested in advising us? We’d love to connect!
