**We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for tax professionals with deep expertise in UK domestic taxation, technical tax research, statutory interpretation, and review of complex tax analyses.**

This short-term role focuses on evaluating and improving AI-generated tax research relating exclusively to UK domestic tax law. Selected professionals will validate technical conclusions, assess supporting legal authorities, refine grading rubrics, and revise reference answers to reflect current UK legislation, HMRC guidance, and relevant case law.

**Key Responsibilities**

**UK Tax Research Review**

  • Review UK domestic tax research questions and model-generated answers
  • Evaluate technical analyses for accuracy, completeness, and professional quality
  • Identify incorrect interpretations, unsupported conclusions, and missing tax considerations
  • Assess whether responses apply UK domestic tax principles appropriately to the stated facts

**Legal Authority & Guidance Validation**

  • Review references to UK tax legislation, HMRC guidance, case law, and related authorities
  • Assess the relevance, authority, and accuracy of supporting tax sources
  • Verify that conclusions align with applicable statutory provisions and administrative guidance
  • Identify outdated, incomplete, or incorrectly applied authorities

**Reference Answer & Rubric Development**

  • Review and improve reference answers for complex UK tax questions
  • Refine grading rubrics for technical accuracy, completeness, consistency, and clarity
  • Define the essential elements required for a high-quality tax analysis
  • Rewrite answers and scoring criteria where correction or clarification is required
  • Ensure rubrics distinguish between minor omissions and material technical errors

**Legislative & Technical Updates**

  • Verify that analyses reflect current UK legislation and recent tax developments
  • Review effective dates, transitional provisions, exemptions, reliefs, and procedural requirements
  • Assess complex domestic tax scenarios involving individuals and businesses
  • Provide clear written explanations supporting recommended revisions

**Ideal Profile**

**Strong candidates may have:**

  • At least 5 years of professional UK tax experience
  • Deep expertise in UK domestic taxation
  • Experience interpreting UK tax legislation, HMRC guidance, and relevant case law
  • Background preparing technical tax opinions, memoranda, compliance documentation, or advisory materials
  • Strong understanding of tax research methodology and the hierarchy of legal authority
  • Excellent analytical judgment, written communication, and attention to detail
  • Availability to contribute approximately 10–20 hours per week

**Educational Background**

  • ACA, ACCA, CTA, Chartered Accountant, Solicitor, Barrister, or an equivalent UK tax qualification is highly relevant
  • A degree in taxation, accounting, finance, law, economics, or a related discipline may be helpful
  • Advanced professional training in UK taxation or technical tax research may strengthen an application
  • Equivalent senior-level experience in tax advisory, compliance, or controversy may also be considered

**Nice to Have**

  • Expertise in UK Corporate Tax
  • Experience with Personal Income Tax
  • Strong knowledge of Capital Gains Tax and VAT
  • Familiarity with Employment Tax and Stamp Duty
  • Background in tax controversy, HMRC enquiries, or advisory work
  • Experience reviewing complex, multi-step tax analyses
  • Familiarity with structured evaluation rubrics, reference-answer development, or AI-generated tax research
  • Experience assessing legislative updates and changes to HMRC guidance
