**Renewable Energy Tax Associate (7+ years) | Houston | Tax credit deals**

Our AmLaw 100 client is hiring a senior associate for a renewable energy-focused transactional tax seat in Houston. The work is deal-driven, incentive-heavy, and tied directly to projects getting financed and built.

**Role summary**

You will work with a transactional tax team supporting renewable energy and energy transition matters across major technologies, including tax structuring, diligence, and execution support from term sheet through closing.

**What you will do**

  • Advise on “begin construction” issues and related qualification questions for energy credits under IRC Sections 45 and 48
  • Counsel on prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements tied to credit eligibility and economics
  • Support M&A and joint ventures involving renewable assets and platforms
  • Work on tax equity financings and tax credit transfer transactions, including deal documentation support and issue-spotting through diligence
  • Contribute to tax opinions as needed (experience helpful, not mandatory)

**Candidate profile**

  • 7+ years in a law firm or Big 4 tax practice focused on energy, infrastructure, project finance, or tax credit transactions
  • Hands-on exposure to at least some combination of tax equity, credit transfers, credit qualification, or renewable project M&A/JVs
  • Strong academic credentials; LL.M. in Tax is strongly preferred per the client’s spec

**Why this role**

  • A platform with recognized depth in energy-related work, including project finance and energy regulatory/transactional capabilities
  • Direct runway into the credit-transfer and incentive-driven deal flow that is shaping how renewables get financed right now
