Senior Director, Tax APAC

From the employerThe Senior Director of Tax will serve as the single point of accountability for the successful execution of the tax function in the region. This leader will play an integral role in leading the Company’s overall tax compliance, planning and strategy function. They will work closely with key finance, legal and other business partners across the organization. The Senior Director of Tax should have a strong background in corporate income tax, income tax accounting under ASC 740, and a working understanding of partnership. Further, this leader will successfully implement strategy and lead ongoing tax operations that will deliver continuous improvement around standardization, scalability and automation. Additional responsibilities include managing and maintaining vendor and business relationships, talent management, partnership with business and Finance leaders, as well as accountability for the establishment, maintenance, and effectiveness of controls across all processes within the tax function.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional financial competence, strong business acumen, robust organizational skills, knowledge of tax systems and processes, exceptional communication skills and the ability to grow & develop a highly engaged team. The candidate must be able to balance the demands of a rapidly growing, complex environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversight and responsibility for the Group's corporate tax compliance and reporting across the APAC region
- Oversee with local tax advisors on the local country tax matters.
- Review tax returns prepared by the advisors and ensure the Digital Realty APAC entities are in compliance with local income tax return requirements.
- Provide real time on-site income tax support to the APAC Operation, Sales, and Accounting Team.
- Correspond with local tax authorities on local country notices, elections and tax assessment.
- Work with the Corporate Tax Team on the structure and maintenance of the entities and provide insights on the local tax issues.
- Review quarterly tax provision and work with the Corporate Tax Team on estimating local country tax implications.
- Support the Company’s transfer pricing policy to ensure compliance of the local country transfer pricing requirements.
- Understand complex structures and transactions.
- Experience of working in an international and corporate tax environment.
- Provide support for process improvement and change management initiatives across our APAC tax reporting with an ongoing focus on data & technology.
- Assist the Corporate Tax team in monitoring Digital’s quarterly/annual US REIT compliance—respond to diligence requests from REIT counsel, provide updates on operations and acquisitions in the APAC region;
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrates a strong value system and an ethical sense of judgment; conveys those values within the tax team and across the business.
- Has the experience and judgment to initiate, plan, execute, and complete goals timely.
- Excellent analytic, tax technical, organizational and project management skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting; preferably completed CPA, JD, master’s degree, or other form of advanced education.
- Significant experience of tax function leadership experience with a global company that operates in multiple countries tied to foreign operations.
- Knowledge of computer applications related to corporate tax and HFM.
- Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive, and energy.
- Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills to excel in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communicator and educator of others that is respectful; able to translate tax rules and concepts into clear actionable information.
