The Senior Manager, Tax, leads enterprise-wide sales and use tax planning initiatives supporting Walmart's evolving business strategies, products, and services. Serves as a strategic advisor to business leaders by identifying tax implications of new initiatives, developing practical planning solutions, and ensuring successful operational implementation. Drives cross-functional collaboration across Tax, Product, Finance, Legal, Technology, and Operations to balance compliance, customer experience, operational scalability, and tax efficiency.

The Sales and Use Tax Operations and Planning team supports one of the world's largest and most complex indirect tax environments. The team partners with business leaders across Walmart's omnichannel ecosystem to design tax-efficient solutions for new products, services, and strategic initiatives while ensuring operational execution across thousands of taxing jurisdictions. The team values collaboration, operational excellence, and improvement. Their expertise plays a vital role in Walmart’s financial operations, driving effective tax strategies and contributing significantly to the company’s overall success.
What you'll do...
Serve as the sales and use tax planning lead for new business initiatives, emerging products, and strategic investments.
Develop relationships across Product, Finance, Technology, Operations, Marketplace, Legal, and Merchandising to proactively identify tax considerations.
Represent Tax with senior business leadership during planning discussions and strategic decision making.
Evaluate complex transactional tax issues and recommend practical planning strategies that balance compliance, customer experience, operational feasibility, and financial impact.
Monitor legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments affecting indirect taxation and communicate business impacts to executive leadership.
Mentor associates while fostering technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
What you'll bring
- Deep expertise in sales and use tax planning for complex retail, eCommerce, marketplace, digital, or omnichannel business models.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives from concept through implementation.
- Strong technical research and analytical skills with experience developing practical solutions to ambiguous tax issues.
- Experience leading enterprise-scale projects involving technology implementations, business transformation, or process redesign.
- Ability to communicate complex tax concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and 3 years’ experience in accounting, finance, income tax
compliance, or related area OR 5 years’ experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area.
1 years' supervisory experience.
