Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Trade Compliance & Logistics for Malaysia is responsible for Malaysia import and export activities and ensuring full adherence to Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) requirements, LMW regulatory adherence, oversight of brokerage and customs interactions, and logistics execution supporting Insulet’s Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) in Johor Bahru.

This position strengthens Malaysia’s logistics functional capability, and ensures accurate, audit‑ready customs processes, documentation, and reporting. The Senior Manager will collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliant and uninterrupted import/export and logistics execution.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development · Lead, coach, and develop the Malaysia Trade Compliance & Logistics team, including direct management of existing personnel. · Build stronger logistics and transportation capabilities within the Malaysia organization to close current gaps and improve operational execution. · Establish performance metrics, team goals, and development plans aligned with global trade compliance and logistics strategies.

· Oversee trade compliance and logistics training to ensure cross‑functional teams understand documentation and LMW requirements.

LMW Compliance & Malaysia Customs Operations · Oversee compliance with Malaysia LMW regulations, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, inventory reconciliation, and adherence to LMW operating conditions. · Ensure compliant HS classification, customs valuation, duty relief qualification, and required licensing for imports and exports.

· Lead the review of documentation and issuance of clearance instructions, ensuring accuracy and compliance prior to broker submission. · Act as the primary escalation point for Johor Customs issues, engaging with RMCD when required. · Lead internal reviews of LMW processes and implement corrective actions to proactively address compliance risks.

· Ensure robust compliance controls for all importation activities, including medical device admissibility, and lead readiness efforts for RMCD audits or inquiries. Logistics & Transportation Management · Lead the day‑to‑day logistics operations, ensuring proactive carrier management, accurate freight bookings, real‑time shipment visibility, and rapid issue escalation. · Manage cross‑border, bonded, and port‑based shipment flows to ensure compliance with all movement requirements.

· Provide inputs on freight payment validation, logistics cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on lead time, reliability, and cost. · Develop and oversee KPIs that deliver visibility into transportation performance, service partner effectiveness, and logistics cost efficiency.

Qualifications

· 10+ years of progressive

experience

in Malaysia trade compliance, customs operations, and international logistics supporting manufacturing or bonded operations (Regional

experience

with Johor Customs is strongly preferred). · Deep knowledge of LMW rules and Malaysia Customs process: bonded movement requirements, customs valuation, HS classification, documentation

requirements

(medical device admissibility is preferred). ·

Experience

working with Malaysian customs brokers, freight forwarders, and clearance agents. · Leadership

experience

managing trade compliance, logistics, or customs operations personnel. ·

Experience

communicating with and advising senior leadership on trade compliance and logistics risks, requirements, and impacts, including the ability to hold firm on regulatory obligations while driving necessary operational changes. ·

Experience

in proactive planning to ensure trade compliance and logistics needs are met ahead of operational demands. ·

Experience

coordinating with global internal partners to ensure alignment on compliance and supply continuity requirements. Preferred

Qualifications

· Direct

experience

managing trade compliance processes within an LMW manufacturing environment.

Experience

supporting RMCD licensed Customs Agent activities (documentation, advisory services, important export processing). ·

Experience

in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments. ·

Experience

with Singapore / Malaysia cross‑border operations, bonded logistics, and port clearance. ·

Experience

supporting cross‑regional trade compliance or logistics activities within a multinational operating environment. · SAP/GTS experience.
