Role Purpose: We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Transfer Pricing to join the International Tax team and support the continued development, implementation and governance of M&G's global transfer pricing framework.
This is a strategically important role operating across both the Asset Management and Insurance businesses. The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, Legal, Risk, HR, Procurement and the business to design, implement, monitor and defend transfer pricing policies while supporting commercial change, business expansion and organisational transformation.
Reporting to the Head of International Tax, the role offers significant exposure to senior leadership and provides the opportunity to influence major strategic projects across a global financial services group.
Key Responsibilities
Transfer pricing strategy and policy: Support the development and maintenance of the Group's global transfer pricing framework across Asset Management and Insurance. Design and review policies for intra-group services, investment management activities, distribution arrangements, real estate operations, financing transactions and other cross-border dealings. Business restructuring and operating model change: Advise on the transfer pricing implications of legal entity restructurings, business integrations, outsourcing projects and organisational transformations, including cross-border movements of functions, assets, risks and personnel.
Permanent establishment risk management: Identify, assess and monitor PE risks arising across the Group's global operations, working with Legal, HR and business stakeholders to develop governance frameworks, controls and risk mitigation strategies. Transfer pricing compliance and documentation: Oversee preparation and review of Local Files, Master File contributions, benchmarking studies, economic analyses and supporting technical documentation capable of supporting tax authority review.
Governance and operational implementation: Work with Finance and operational teams to ensure transfer pricing policies are accurately reflected in financial systems, legal agreements, controls, governance procedures and management reporting. Audit, controversy and dispute resolution: Lead responses to transfer pricing enquiries and tax authority audits, coordinate technical positions and defence strategies, and support APAs, MAPs and other dispute resolution initiatives.
Senior stakeholder engagement: Act as a trusted adviser to business and functional stakeholders, presenting complex technical issues clearly and commercially, and supporting materials for governance committees and senior management. Team development: Line manage, mentor and develop two junior resources within the International Tax team, supporting knowledge sharing, capability building and continuous improvement across the tax function.
Knowledge Skills & Experience: Minimum five years' direct transfer pricing experience gained in industry, professional services or a combination of both. Strong technical knowledge of the OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines and international transfer pricing principles. Practical experience across transfer pricing planning, implementation, documentation and controversy management within multinational groups.
Experience supporting tax authority audits, managing external advisers and coordinating projects across multiple jurisdictions. Strong stakeholder management, influencing, project management and organisational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly to senior non-tax stakeholders.
Desirable experience includes financial services, asset management, insurance or broader regulated industries; business restructurings; PE risk management; APAs, MAPs and other dispute resolution processes.
