Job Description
Position Summary
- Holden Conner is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to lead tax strategy,
- compliance, and planning across a complex portfolio of agricultural entities,
- land holdings and related investments. This role requires deep, hands-on
- experience in farm, land, and agricultural taxation. The ideal candidate brings
- advanced knowledge of partnership and multi-entity structuring, agricultural
- depreciation strategies, land transactions, and long-term tax planning for
- closely held operations.
- This is not a general tax preparation role. We are seeking a seasoned
- professional who understands the unique nuances of agricultural operations and
- can proactively identify planning opportunities while ensuring precise
- compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns for
agricultural entities, partnerships, trusts, and related individuals.
- Oversee tax strategy for multi-entity farm structures, including LLCs,
partnerships, and S-Corporations.
- Manage agricultural depreciation planning (Section 179, bonus depreciation,
equipment lifecycle planning).
- Advise on land acquisitions, dispositions, exchanges, and property tax
matters.
- Support long-term planning related to generational transfer considerations
and entity optimization.
- Research and interpret changes in federal and state tax law impacting
agricultural operations.
- Coordinate with external CPA firms, legal counsel, and financial advisors as
needed.
- Manage quarterly estimates, projections, and tax calendar compliance.
- Support financial reporting and reconciliations related to tax activity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA required (or equivalent advanced tax credential such as EA).
- 7+ years of progressive tax experience, with significant focus on
agricultural and farm-related entities.
- Demonstrated expertise in partnership taxation and multi-entity agricultural
structures.
- Advanced knowledge of agricultural depreciation strategies and land-related
tax issues.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance requirements.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage complex filings
independently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
