
Senior Tax Analyst

From the employer**POSITION SUMMARY:**
The Senior Tax Analyst supports Talos Energy’s tax function through the preparation and analysis of income tax provisions, tax compliance, tax accounting, and related reporting requirements. This role is responsible for evaluating tax matters, maintaining accurate tax records, supporting internal controls and audits, and assisting with federal, state, franchise, property, indirect, and transactional tax matters in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:**
The Senior Tax Analyst duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Prepare and support quarterly and annual federal and state income tax provisions, including related schedules, analyses, and documentation.
- Prepare and record tax-related journal entries and account reconciliations during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
- Support quarterly and annual SOX compliance requirements, including preparation of control documentation, support files, and evidence of review.
- Prepare federal, state, franchise, and other tax payments, including estimates, extensions, and related filings as assigned.
- Maintain and monitor the tax compliance calendar to ensure timely completion of recurring tax filings, payments, and internal deliverables.
- Analyze and prepare book-to-tax differences, deferred tax balances, and supporting schedules for estimates, provisions, forecasts, and compliance workstreams.
- Maintain tax basis balance sheets, property roll forwards, fixed asset tax records, and related book-to-tax reconciliations.
- Assist with ad valorem/property tax, sales and use tax, severance tax, withholding tax, transactional tax, and other indirect tax matters as needed.
- Conduct tax research using online tools and resources and summarize findings for internal review and decision-making.
- Support tax audits, notices, special projects, process improvements, and other assigned responsibilities.
**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:**
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tax compliance and strong income tax accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree with focus on accounting, tax or related discipline.
- Big 4 public accounting experience.
- Experience in the oil & gas industry is a plus.
- Industry experience in a public company is a plus.
- Partnership and corporate tax experience required.
- Basic understanding of ASC 740 concepts required.

**CERTIFICATES & LICENSES**
- CPA or actively working towards obtaining CPA.
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**
Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
