The Senior Tax Associate is responsible for managing and executing advanced tax preparation tasks, ensuring accurate and timely completion of U.S. individual and business tax returns. This role involves no direct phone, video, or advisory interaction with clients, but focuses solely on tax return preparation and review. The Senior Tax Associate will also guide junior team members and help implement process improvements to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency in tax filings.
Key Responsibilities:
Advanced Tax Preparation and Review:
- Prepare and review complex U.S. individual income tax returns (1040) and business income tax returns (1120, 1120S, 1065, 1041).
- Ensure all tax filings comply with U.S. tax laws and regulations, focusing on high-quality outputs.
Mentoring and Team Support:
- Provide mentorship and support to junior staff, enhancing their performance and development.
- Assist team members in resolving more complex tax preparation issues and ensuring timely completion of their tasks.
Compliance and Accuracy Assurance:
- Conduct thorough reviews of tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with U.S. tax standards.
- Collaborate with the Tax Supervisor to ensure that all compliance protocols are adhered to during the tax preparation process.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving tax preparation and review processes, suggesting best practices to increase efficiency and quality.
- Implement process improvements that benefit the wider tax preparation team and enhance overall service delivery.
Collaboration with Tax Teams:
- Work closely with the internationally based and U.S. tax teams to ensure all client tax returns are completed efficiently and accurately.
- Support internal teams by sharing expertise and knowledge of U.S. tax laws and concepts.
Performance Metrics:****
- Client Satisfaction: Measured by feedback and satisfaction from U.S.-based teams and Tax Supervisor on the quality of tax preparation and review.
- Efficiency: Timely completion of advanced tax preparation tasks based on established deadlines.
- Communication: Responsiveness in collaborating with the tax teams in India and the U.S. and providing guidance to junior staff.
- Accuracy: Ensuring accuracy in tax preparation and review processes, focusing on compliance with U.S. tax laws.
Requirements
Job Qualifications Required:
- Equivalent to a U.S. four-year post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience preparing U.S. individual (1040) and business (1120, 1120S, 1065) tax returns.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and U.S. tax concepts and law.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office or Google Suite, with strong Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables).
- Experience with CCH Access or CCH ProSystem fix is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CA certification or equivalent tax certification.
- Additional coursework or certifications in advanced tax strategies or financial management.
