
Senior Tax Manager

§ The Tax Senior is to execute the tax engagements from start to
finish, i.e. planning executing and delivery, following the tax practice
guidelines in most effective and efficient manner
§ Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client
personnel and assess client’s satisfaction
§ Monitor engagement economics by identifying and explaining variances
from plan
§ Monitor component progress to ensure expectations are met through
initiating discussions with service team and obtaining on-going feedback from
client
§ Prepare initial draft of reports or other client and external
communications
§ Foster an efficient, innovative, and team-oriented work environment
§ Direct fieldwork daily, inform manager/director of the engagement
status
§ Develop people through effectively delegating tasks and providing
guidance to junior staff
§ Share knowledge with team members (e.g. share best practices,
provides on-the-job training)
§ Develop an understanding of the Firm’s service lines and actively
seek/encourage team members to contribute ideas and identify opportunities to
apply the Firm’s services
§ Identify and discuss risks with Team Manager on a timely basis
§ Implement client’s engagements from start to finish i.e. planning,
executing, directing, and completing tax assignments
§ Prepare engagements proposals, engagement letters and budgets
§ Review tax returns prepared by staff and make recommendations regarding
accuracy and tax savings opportunities
§ Prepare more complex tax returns and tax submissions and
computations.
§ Proactively interact with key client management to gather
information, resolve tax – related problems, and make recommendations for business
and process improvements
§ Assist Manager/Director/Partner on proposals and business
development calls
§ Gain understanding of client operations, processes, and business
objectives
§ Possess an understanding of state and foreign tax legislations and
tax treaties
§ Help in preparation of clients returns for PAYE, SDL, WHT, VAT and
Corporate tax as required;
§ Process of WHT certificates for clients
§ Help provide assistance to clients as regards obtaining TIN, VAT
registration and TCC
§ Manage VAT tax refund audit’s for clients from start to finish
§ Manage TRA audits on behalf of clients as required
§ Provide tax advisory/ opinions/ research for clients as advised
§ Help prepare national budget highlights on annual basis for
distribution to clients immediately after the national budgets have been read.
§ Help to perform Tax Due Diligence assignments for clients as will be
required.
§ Assist audit seniors with tax computation/ reviews of the client
prepared tax computations for audit and tax clients as required.
§ Any other task as may be requested by management in the tax services
area of the firm.
Requirements
**Knowledge and Experience**
§ Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in accounting with specialisation in
tax Professional qualification (CA, CPA or ACCA) is preferred
§ Minimum of 6 to 10 years of professional, preferably in tax consulting
experience in public accounting firm
§ Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral and
written communication skills
§ Professionalism, dependability, integrity and trustworthiness
combined with a cooperative attitude
§ Highly motivated self-starter with ability to multitask and complete
assignments within time constraints and deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
programs, including spread-sheet programs (i.e. Excel)
