Expected salary range of $96,300 to $107,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
Primary Purpose of Position
The State and Local Tax, Senior Transaction Tax Analyst (“SALT Senior”) applies state and local transaction tax knowledge and experience in a team environment to execute Constellation’s transaction tax compliance process. Specifically, the SALT Senior executes tax data processing, data reconciliations, tax return workflows, and related procedures in a highly automated environment. The SALT Senior quality reviews of significant transaction tax returns, processes and payments, and initiates accounting entries and reconciliations that also leverage automation. This role also develops, monitors, and improves compliance processes, supports effective information flow, establishes and maintains tax accounts, assists with integrating new business transactions, and supports other teams with transaction tax compliance information needs. This individual will leverage strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop relationships with business partners in support of the transaction tax compliance process, business processes, and larger business initiatives.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
Gathers and manages relevant tax data sources
Takes direct action concerning various compliance-related matters, including, for example, new business registrations, tax account closures, tax authority notice resolution
Executes tax data processing, reconciliations, and tax return workflows and processes in a highly automated environment
Reviews significant transaction tax returns for accuracy, processes tax payments, reviews and initiates journal entries, and reviews and performs account reconciliations
Serves as liaison to third-party sales/use tax compliance co-source service provider and supports compliance efforts
Assists with streamlining and transforming transaction tax compliance processes through implementation and support of process or technology improvements
Provides support for internal business partners by participating in and effectively communicating tax compliance impact of business projects, developments, and process changes and serving as a resource for transaction tax-related inquiries
Develops and communicates tax compliance requirements for tax and business projects and assists with related integration efforts
Gathers and provides information to support internal data requests for transaction tax audits and other business needs
Performs special projects as assigned by the State and Local Transaction Tax Manager
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3-years related experience including at least 3 years of professional tax experience focusing on transaction tax compliance
Strong understanding of state and local transaction tax laws and general accounting principles
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently and effectively in a high-volume environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Transaction tax compliance experience with a multistate organization involving a large volume of filings for multiple legal entities
- Familiarity with automated sales and use tax engines, compliance systems, workflow processing and data management and manipulation tools (e.g., Alteryx)
- Tax research and audit experience
