The Sr Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for assisting the Payroll Supervisor and Head of Payroll with tax issues and notices which includes the preparation of schedules, providing documentation, and updating all schedules used to track tax return filings notices and audits. At times the Sr Payroll Tax Analyst will be required to work directly with governmental representatives or third- party providers.

**JOB FUNCTIONS**

  • Assists the Payroll Supervisor and/or the Head of Payroll with tax notices, tax audits, or special projects as instructed
  • Maintains tax compliance related to balance adjustment reviews, W-2/W-2c reviews, unemployment tax, federal, state & local tax, tax audits, software maintenance, and general tax law research for all existing entities
  • Audits and updates the tax rate tables within the payroll system to ensure accurate and timely withholding and reporting of all tax types
  • Researches and resolves tax inquiries, tax accrual, and tax reconciliation issues with little to no direction from manager
  • Reconciles periodic, quarterly, and annual tax reports with ADP
  • Reviews, audits, and reconciles quarterly adjustments required in a timely manner with little to no direction from manager
  • Timely preparation of state, local, and special tax returns, as well as processing of payments and filing if needed in conjunction with tax jurisdictions
  • Ensures that all tax issues and reconciliations and/or other supporting schedules are documented with traceable supporting backup maintained
  • Responds to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a timely professional manner
  • Fosters continuous improvement of the tax reconciliation procedures
  • Responds to payroll audit requests and ensures SOX compliance for payroll process
  • Leads role in assisting and training payroll staff on resolving tax related inquiries
  • Prepares and generates tax related audit and analysis reports as needed for pre and post payroll procedures, government agencies, tax authorities, and other Lincare departments as needed

**Education**

  • Associate's Degree, Required
  • Bachelor's Degree, Preferred

**Work Experience**

  • 10-15 years of payroll in mid-to-large, high volume, multi-state company, Required
  • 5-7+ years of ADP payroll, Preferred
  • 5-7+ years of tax and accounting, Preferred
  • Advanced ADP Reporting, Preferred
  • muti-state tax processing and filings

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**

  • tax licensing application process
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to perform pivots, V-lookups, and other functions in Excel
  • Strong analytical and interpretation to deliver payroll data in a user friendly and relevant

manner

  • Complete understanding of payroll processes, tax laws, as well as federal, state, and local regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving
  • Self-starter to multitask and work independently
  • general accounting principles, including but not limited to payroll journal entries, accruals, bank and intercompany reconciliations
