Job Description

The Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting the organisation’s tax compliance, reporting, and governance obligations across multiple jurisdictions, with a primary focus on UK VAT and corporate income tax. The role ensures accurate and timely tax filings, supports audits and statutory reporting requirements, and partners with internal stakeholders to maintain compliance with evolving tax legislation and business operations.

This position plays a key role in minimising tax risk, improving tax processes and controls, and supporting the wider Finance team in delivering accurate financial reporting and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit indirect tax filings, including UK VAT returns and corporate income tax computations.
  • Support the preparation of tax disclosures for statutory accounts and group reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal tax governance policies.
  • Liaise with external advisors, auditors, and tax authorities on compliance matters, audits, and queries.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess potential impacts on the business.
  • Reconcile tax-related balance sheet accounts and ensure accuracy of tax provisions.
  • Support transfer pricing documentation and intercompany tax compliance where applicable.

Assist with tax audits, investigations, and responses to information requests. Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, controls, and efficiencies within the finance function.

Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails to support all tax filings and reporting activities.

Support wider finance and statutory reporting activities as required.

About You

Qualified accountant or tax professional (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CTA, CIMA or equivalent).

Experience in corporate tax and indirect tax compliance, ideally with exposure to UK and Ireland VAT and corporate income tax.

Experience working in a multinational organisation or complex finance environment preferred.

Strong understanding of accounting principles and statutory reporting requirements.

Ability to interpret and apply tax legislation in a practical business context.

Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Proactive approach to problem solving and process improvement.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under deadlines.

Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems preferred.

Experience working with external auditors, advisors, and regulatory bodies advantageous.
