The Tax Analyst - PEO will play a key role in supporting the growth and delivery of U.S. tax operations within a global HR technology environment.
This position focuses on payroll tax compliance, account management, registrations, and operational improvements that help businesses manage complex employment requirements.
The successful candidate will combine tax expertise, operational discipline, and technology awareness to improve processes and deliver accurate solutions.
Working across internal teams and government agencies, this role will help ensure seamless onboarding, compliance, and issue resolution for customers.

Accountabilities
The Tax Analyst - PEO will support U.S. payroll tax operations by managing registrations, compliance activities, process improvements, and stakeholder relationships. This role requires strong operational knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Manage payroll-related state tax registrations and account maintenance, including employment tax and workers’ compensation accounts with federal and state agencies.
Perform daily tax operations, including tax filings, account setup, compliance activities, and resolution of tax-related issues.
Review and resolve escalations involving registration challenges, agency communications, and tax compliance matters.
Provide feedback and recommendations to internal teams and external agencies to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Develop and execute strategies to streamline tax operations, registration workflows, and reporting processes.
Identify opportunities for automation and collaborate with technology teams to improve tax-related processes.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations through accurate and timely submissions.
Establish quality assurance standards for tax operations, reporting, and data accuracy.
Serve as a key contact for government tax agencies, maintaining effective communication and resolving inquiries.
Provide internal reporting and insights related to tax filings, registration status, compliance metrics, and customer requirements.
Support sales and operational teams by analyzing tax-related customer data and providing relevant insights.
Contribute to the development and scaling of a new business line focused on payroll tax services.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll tax operations, compliance management, and process improvement, with the ability to operate independently while collaborating with distributed teams. Strong organizational skills, technology comfort, and communication abilities are essential for success.
Proven experience managing payroll-related tax operations, registrations, account maintenance, and compliance activities.
Experience working in a payroll, PEO, employer services, or similar operational environment.
Strong understanding of U.S. payroll tax compliance requirements across multiple states.
Experience resolving tax issues and communicating with government agencies.
Demonstrated ability to lead projects, improve processes, and support operational growth initiatives.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make decisions with limited supervision.
Comfortable working with technology platforms and remote collaboration tools.
Experience supporting automation initiatives and applying AI-driven solutions to improve workflows.
Ability to work U.S. business hours, with flexibility across Pacific and Eastern time zones.
Fluent English communication skills required; additional languages are a plus.
Experience working remotely in a distributed environment is preferred.
