Position Summary

Focus Financial partner firm, Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman, is seeking a Tax Assistant Manager. The Tax Assistant Manager must be an organized, technically capable and client-focused tax professional who is comfortable working across both compliance and advisory matters. They must have strong review skills, sound judgement, and the confidence to support and develop more junior members of the team.

This position will be based from our London office on a full-time basis, with potential for hybrid working following a 4-month probation. The hybrid work arrangement may be adjusted or altered to fill the needs of the role, including potentially working in-office for 3+ days per week. Primary Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of tax clients across personal tax and corporation tax compliance matters.

Review tax returns, computations and supporting work prepared by junior team members to ensure accuracy, quality and timely delivery. Provide support on tax advisory and planning assignments, including research, analysis and preparation of written reports. Act as a day-to-day point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and responding to queries in a professional and commercial manner.

Assist with identifying tax planning opportunities and supporting senior team members in delivering advisory solutions. Support the Tax Director and Tax Manager in workflow management, prioritization of deadlines and allocation of work across the team. Coach, support and develop junior colleagues through regular review feedback and on-the-job guidance.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK tax legislation and communicate relevant changes to clients and colleagues where appropriate.

Qualifications

CTA or AAT qualified, or qualified by relevant experience At least 5 years’ experience in a tax role with exposure to tax compliance, advisory and planning work A collaborative and proactive approach, with a strong commitment to client service Strong technical knowledge of personal tax and corporation tax Experience of reviewing work prepared by junior colleagues and providing clear, constructive feedback Proven ability to draft clear and accurate tax planning and advisory reports Excellent verbal and written communication and consultative skills Comfort communicating across all levels of the organization Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently, Familiarity with CCH and QuickBooks is highly preferred Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set.
