**Essential Functions:**
**Payroll Tax Compliance**
- Review payroll tax returns for accuracy prior to filing.
- Monitor tax deposit and return due dates to ensure timely compliance.
- Process scheduled federal, state, and local tax deposits accurately and on time.
- File all payroll tax returns timely and accurately.
- Research and monitor changes to federal, state, and local payroll tax filing requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax filing processes and efficiencies through agency websites and technology enhancements.
**Tax Notice Resolution**
- Review, research, and respond promptly to payroll tax notices.
- Perform detailed research to determine the cause of tax notices.
- Communicate with federal, state, and local tax agencies by telephone and written correspondence.
- Resolve tax notices efficiently while documenting all actions taken.
- Communicate the status and resolution of tax notices with clients and appropriate third parties.
**Client Support**
- Assist clients with registrations and applications required by taxing agencies.
- Obtain and maintain agency access required to complete tax filing and deposit responsibilities for new clients.
- Serve as a resource for clients regarding payroll tax questions and compliance requirements.
- Effectively communicate complex tax information in a professional and customer-focused manner.
**Internal Team Support**
- Provide payroll tax guidance and support to Payroll Consultants.
- Assist the Implementation Team with the accurate setup of payroll tax accounts for new clients.
- Support the Sales and Marketing teams by providing tax filing and registration guidance for prospective clients.
- Provide cross-functional support to other tax team members during vacations, absences, or periods of increased workload.
- Support payroll tax processing across multiple states and jurisdictions.
**Additional Responsibilities**
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, tax agencies, CPAs, and internal team members.
- Maintain confidentiality of client and company information.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
**Qualifications:**
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll tax experience, in a payroll service bureau or payroll processing environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Experience with payroll and tax software.
- Experience researching and resolving payroll tax notices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining exceptional accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
**Preferred**
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or willingness to obtain certification.
- Experience supporting clients in multiple states and tax jurisdictions.
- Experience working directly with government tax agencies.
