Job Description

  • The VAT Manager (Advisory) reports directly to the Head of Indirect Taxes and will provide strategic VAT advisory support to the business, with a focus on new transactions, structures and commercial flows.
  • The position will also play a key role in VAT-related workstreams linked to the ORACLE implementation and other technology projects, while driving automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy and controls across VAT processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide VAT advisory services to the business on commercial transactions, new structures, and cross-border flows
  • Analyse cross-border flows of goods and services to identify and mitigate VAT risks proactively across all relevant jurisdictions
  • Lead VAT-related workstreams within the ORACLE implementation project, ensuring correct VAT determination, reporting, and compliance are embedded into the system
  • Drive tax technology and automation initiatives to improve VAT processes, accuracy, and controls
  • Advise internal stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Operations, Trading) on VAT implications of business decisions
  • Support M&A transactions with VAT due diligence and integration activities
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure timely implementation of new VAT reporting requirements (e.g. e-reporting, e-invoicing, real-time digital VAT reporting etc.)
  • Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement technology-driven VAT solutions
  • Support and enhance VAT compliance processes across the Group
  • Managing relationships with external advisers across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring consistent and high-quality service delivery
  • Support and lead VAT audits
  • Respond to ad-hoc VAT queries from traders, operators, and other business stakeholders.

​Profile

University degree in Tax, Law, Economics, Accounting, or related field. A post-graduate qualification in VAT is an advantage.

Approximately 5-7 years of VAT experience, preferably from a Big 4 firm or multinational environment

In-depth knowledge of VAT legislation and regulations (essential). Familiarity with customs and excise matters is a big advantage.

Experience in VAT advisory and VAT technology/automation projects

Strong interest in and aptitude for tax technology and automation

Ability to bridge the gap between tax technical knowledge and system/process design

Experience with ERP implementations (e.g., ORACLE, SAP) is highly desirable

Able to work independently and collaborate across teams

Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong project management and organisational skills

Conscious and methodical in approach with strong analytical skills.

High degree of integrity and the ability to inspire confidence

Excellent oral and written skills in English; additional languages are an advantage
