A leading firm is seeking a Junior Tax Manager to join their team in a mid-level role. This position will involve a broad range of responsibilities related to tax compliance, planning, and advisory, all under the guidance of senior tax professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in tax law, be capable of supervising junior staff, and be highly proficient in tax research and client interactions.
**Compensation & Benefits**
- **Base Salary**: USD $120,000 to $135,000
- **Discretionary Bonus**: 10%

**Responsibilities**
- **Tax Compliance**:
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of corporate, individual, partnership, and other tax returns.
- Ensure that tax filings are accurate and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Review tax calculations and filings prepared by junior staff.
- **Tax Planning**:
- Assist in developing tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and optimize tax benefits for clients.
- Support the creation and implementation of tax-efficient structures for corporate transactions, mergers, acquisitions, or restructurings.
- **Research & Analysis**:
- Conduct research on complex tax issues, including the interpretation of tax laws and regulations.
- Analyze the impact of changes in tax legislation and recommend adjustments to existing tax strategies.
- **Client Interaction**:
- Communicate directly with clients about their tax matters and provide advice on tax-saving opportunities.
- Help clients understand their tax positions and the implications of their decisions.
- **Supervising Junior Staff**:
- Supervise and mentor junior tax associates or analysts, ensuring their work is accurate and completed on time.
- Provide training and guidance to junior staff on tax matters.
- **Reporting & Documentation**:
- Prepare and review internal reports related to tax filings and positions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation to support tax positions and address any associated risks.
- **Audit Support**:
- Assist in tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Organize and gather necessary documentation to respond to audit requests.
**Skills & Qualifications**
- **Education**:
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is typically required. A Master of Taxation or similar advanced degree is advantageous.
- **Certifications**:
- A CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license or similar certifications (e.g., CTA - Chartered Tax Adviser) is preferred.
- **Experience**:
- 2-4 years of experience in tax, including tax preparation and planning.
- **Technical Skills**:
- Proficiency with tax software (such as Thomson Reuters, CCH, or similar tools).
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- **Knowledge of Tax Laws**:
- A strong understanding of current tax legislation, tax planning strategies, and accounting principles.
- **Attention to Detail**:
- Ability to identify discrepancies in tax filings and other related data.
- **Communication Skills**:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
