**Onus Talent is hiring on behalf of a prominent CPA firm** in San Diego, California. We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated **Tax Manager I** to lead tax engagements, supervise staff, and manage client relationships. This is a hybrid role that requires working on-site at the San Diego office. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in US tax law and will be responsible for managing a team of professionals to deliver high-quality tax services to a range of clients.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Supervise and manage routine tax engagements, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and mentor Tax Associates and Tax Seniors, providing feedback and evaluations to support their growth.
  • Develop expertise in assigned areas of taxation, offering in-depth knowledge to clients and team members.
  • Cultivate new client relationships and identify opportunities to offer additional services to existing clients.
  • Participate in firm administrative functions as assigned by partners.
  • Ensure adherence to firm policies and procedures while contributing to the continuous improvement of tax practices.
  • Manage a book of business, maintaining high-quality standards and client satisfaction.

**Qualifications**

**Education & Experience**

  • US CPA designation is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; MST (Master of Science in Taxation) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in US tax, including tax research, tax return preparation, and managing tax engagements for corporations, individuals, partnerships, estates, and trusts.
  • 5-10 years of overall experience in a public accounting firm.
  • Proven experience supervising senior staff and managing tax teams.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.

**Skills & Knowledge**

  • Strong understanding of US tax laws and regulations, particularly related to corporations, individuals, estates, and trusts.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
  • High level of technical proficiency and ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
  • Excellent client service skills with the ability to foster long-term relationships.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle complex tax issues with confidence.
  • Strong business acumen and decision-making abilities.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for growth and service improvement.

**Compensation & Benefits**

  • Salary: $100k - $150k, depending on experience.
  • Bonus opportunities based on performance.
