From the employer**About the Role:**
We are seeking an experienced **Tax Senior Manager** to lead complex tax planning, compliance, and advisory engagements for privately held businesses and their owners. This leadership role focuses on providing strategic tax guidance to closely held companies, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and individual business owners while overseeing client engagements, mentoring tax professionals, and supporting business development initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong public accounting experience, advanced technical tax expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
**Responsibilities:**
- Perform technical reviews of complex tax returns and engagement workpapers for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and privately held businesses.
- Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services related to business and personal transactions, including evaluating tax implications, compliance requirements, and entity structuring.
- Develop responses to IRS examinations, state tax authority audits, notices, and regulatory inquiries.
- Lead multiple complex tax engagements while managing budgets, staffing, scheduling, workflow, deadlines, and overall engagement profitability.
- Conduct advanced tax research on complex federal, state, and local tax matters and prepare technical memorandums supporting tax positions.
- Assist with or lead business development initiatives by identifying new client opportunities and expanding advisory services for existing clients.
- Build and maintain long term client relationships while identifying opportunities to deliver additional tax and consulting services.
- Allocate engagement resources effectively to ensure quality service delivery and efficient project execution.
- Mentor, coach, and develop managers, supervisors, seniors, and staff through technical training, performance management, and career development.
- Stay current on changes in tax legislation and communicate technical updates and best practices across the tax practice.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA, JD, or Enrolled Agent credential with authorization to practice before the IRS.
- Minimum of 6 years of public accounting tax experience or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience managing client engagements and supervising tax professionals.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws affecting individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and privately held businesses.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex tax engagements while maintaining exceptional client service.
- Advanced analytical, leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to perform advanced tax research and provide practical, strategic recommendations for complex tax matters.
**Desired Qualifications:**
- Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related discipline.
- Experience advising privately held businesses and business owners on tax planning, entity structuring, and succession planning.
- Proven success developing client relationships and supporting business development initiatives.
- Strong presentation, technical writing, and thought leadership skills.
- Experience mentoring and developing tax professionals through coaching and technical training.
