**About the Role**
At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring an experienced **Tax Specialist** to manage U.S. tax preparation, compliance, filings, and tax planning support for individuals and businesses.
This is a hands-on tax role requiring strong knowledge of **U.S. federal and state taxation**, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple filings and deadlines accurately.
You’ll prepare and review **individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns**, monitor regulatory requirements, respond to tax notices, support audits, and identify legitimate opportunities to reduce tax liabilities.
The ideal candidate has **3+ years of U.S. tax experience**, hands-on experience with professional tax preparation software, and a strong understanding of IRS filing requirements.
**What You’ll Own**
**U.S. Tax Preparation & Filing**
- Prepare and review U.S. federal and state tax returns.
- Handle returns including:
- Form 1040 – Individual Income Tax Returns
- Form 1120 – Corporate Income Tax Returns
- Form 1065 – Partnership Returns
- Prepare quarterly estimated tax payments.
- Prepare and file extensions when required.
- Review supporting financial information for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure returns are submitted accurately and within applicable deadlines.
- Maintain supporting schedules and workpapers for completed filings.
**Federal, State & Local Tax Compliance**
- Monitor changes to U.S. tax laws, regulations, and IRS guidance.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
- Support multi-state tax compliance and filings.
- Assist with:
- Sales tax
- Payroll tax
- Property tax
- Track filing calendars and ensure deadlines are not missed.
- Maintain accurate documentation supporting tax positions and calculations.
**Tax Planning & Advisory Support**
- Identify applicable deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities.
- Support tax planning for individuals and businesses.
- Analyze financial information to identify potential tax efficiencies.
- Advise on tax implications of business transactions and financial decisions.
- Help clients understand tax obligations and planning opportunities.
- Support tax planning for closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals where applicable.
**Tax Notices & Audit Support**
- Review and respond to IRS and state tax notices.
- Gather supporting documentation for tax audits and inquiries.
- Prepare organized schedules and records for auditors and tax authorities.
- Research discrepancies and assist with resolving tax-related issues.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready tax documentation.
**International Tax Support**
Where applicable, support international tax matters including:
- FBAR
- FATCA
- Transfer pricing considerations
- International reporting requirements
International tax experience is preferred but not required.
**Accounting & Finance Collaboration**
- Work closely with accounting and finance teams during month-end and year-end close.
- Review financial records to ensure tax reporting aligns with accounting data.
- Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, and tax advisors when required.
- Identify missing or inconsistent financial information before filing.
- Communicate tax implications clearly to finance teams and business stakeholders.
**Documentation & Process Improvement**
- Maintain updated tax compliance SOPs.
- Document tax positions, assumptions, and filing methodologies.
- Maintain organized client tax records and supporting documentation.
- Improve tax preparation and review workflows.
- Identify opportunities to increase accuracy and efficiency during high-volume filing periods.
**Required Experience & Skills**
**Core Requirements**
- **3+ years of professional U.S. tax preparation and compliance experience.**
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax requirements.
- Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Form 1040
- Form 1120
- Form 1065
- Experience with IRS e-filing systems and state tax portals.
- Strong understanding of tax deadlines, estimated payments, and extensions.
- Ability to research and interpret tax regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tax filings and deadlines independently.
- Comfortable working remotely during U.S. client business hours.
**Tax Software**
Hands-on experience with one or more professional tax platforms such as:
- UltraTax
- Lacerte
- ProSeries
- Drake Tax
- Equivalent professional tax preparation software
**Excel & Google Sheets**
Strong proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets for
- Tax reconciliations
- Supporting schedules

**Nice-to-Have Experience**
- CPA designation.
- Enrolled Agent (EA) credential.
- Master’s degree in Taxation.
